That said, I think it is an definitely overstatement to say not to use a compressor on the mix buss--this is a VERY common technique that tons of great high-end productions use--the SSL and Neve boards have buss compresssors that are often used with 2:1 or 4:1 ratios with about 2-4 dB of gain reduc...

Re: weird Ableton Wav Processing -- pics inside

hi everyone, tried to figure this out myself but the last 24hrs has me scratching my head. i was given stems to a song that was done in protools i believe. i got sent the wavs (16bit, 44.1) and after loading them up in ableton noticed something very odd. It might not be the case but I've worked on ...

LOL. I never understood the whole Cookie Monster thing. It's cool if you want to throw it in there as a vocal effect once in a while, but when done constantly, I can't listen without thinking I'm watching the Muppet Show. +1 - those singers typically end up sounding like early candidates for throat...

Someone finally managed to make ACDC even worse. It *is* a tough job makin 'em sound bad - but here's yet another pair of dismal bints murdering their classics: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kYQCTML5VX8&feature=related And another: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zHtuGMHWAf0&feature=related And, er, ...

Re: Kickass hardware controller for Sonar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at that beauty!!! I'd love this for Live. +1 - if we're talking revenue stream I wonder why the Abe's don't put some resources into a dedicated hardware control system given I'm sure there'd be plenty of takers - possibly even just licence the idea? Got to be better than just attempting to acc...

It was using iTunes on my PC that convinced me to get an iPod, and then a Mac. Whereas it convinced me to attempt an uninstall from my PC and then watch as an already badly coded app vomited crap all over the registry. Who knows maybe it was just more negative advertising (vandalism) by Apple...:wi...

Re: Drum sample pack recommendations?

SO after that long diatribe, can someone recommend to me some good drum sample packs for electro-house? I'm looking for the really big ugly kicks /snares. I'm not really looking for loops however, and I don't need synth noises or anything, just drum hits. I have budgeted about $100 for this, and wo...

Re: New curves for macro controls racks

Something pretty simple: a choice of curves for the controls. Anyone who's ever tried to make a wet/dry control on their effect rack knows the problem I'm talking about: Two chains, one with effects, one straight through; assign a macro to control the volume of one normally, and the other in revers...

Dunno if it's quite what you're after, and it's PC only I'm afraid, but here's a cool 'circuit bent' delay

I've done all the general stuff like deleting the temp files etc. I've noticed the 'uninstal files' but hadn't realised that's what they were. I presume I can just move these (or do a ghost backup and then delete). Best to be careful Wildcon - get something like CCleaner to regularly get rid of the...
