have you installed asio4all?
you didn't mention if your on windows or apple
it sounds like a driver (asio) might be all you need

I had the same problem with downloaded midi files
could not figure out why the bass was to low
i kept adding a midi octave up
I was using Trillian after looking
at it I notice a setting to play 1 octave lower
felt like a moron for not reading the manual

hi this is what I do turn guitar volume almost all the way and turn tone all the way up so you here every thing remember you can take freqs away but you add something that's not there then record the direct sound with nothing on it you can apply effects while recording so it sounds OK in you headpho...
