Re: which monitors would you choose

I'm pretty tempted to buy those 8020 speakers that catalyst is selling. (I could always re-sell them if i wasn't happy with them) I would also have enough change to buy a sub if necessary. does anyone know if the genelec 5040 sub would be suitable or would i need to go for the 7050 sub which genelec...

Re: which monitors would you choose

Genelec 8030 or maybe 8020 if they are more suitable Sorry to be a bit spammy - if you decide the 8020 is good for you I have a mint boxed pair of 8020a I am just about to put up for sale and I'm in the west end of Glasgow so that may be convenient! If you were to pick them up I'd ask £280 for the ...

Re: which monitors would you choose

really surprised nobody said the genelecs. I thought there was a few genelec fans on here. I am now swaying towards the dynaudio. They were first mentioned to me by a friend who is an acoustic consultant. I was originally planning to buy a set of adam a5x but my friend didn't recommend these due to ...

which monitors would you choose

I know this question gets banded about a lot but i'm going to the shop tomorrow and i'm hopefully going to come back with some new monitors. I've been using alesis m1 mkii passive speakers and a samson amp for years and never really been that happy with the sound and now the amp seems to have died s...

Re: MPC for live use.

I used an mpc2000 for live gigs for years.I basically had loads of pre-programmed beats and samples. I'd use the mute/solo pad thing and perform that way. I like performing with it and it always sounds good but It's a bit of a pain because I use an external zip drive thats a bit flaky plus carrying ...

Re: Anyone using just a launchpad to play live?

I used to use a launchpad, a uc33 and an mpd24 for live gigs. then i swapped the mpd24 for a maschine but the other week I had to travel light for a gig and ditched the maschine and uc33. I bought a nanokontrol, that and a launchpad did me just fine. still loads of control over everything. Not sure ...

Re: My God - I am going to go mad . . .

I have had a ground loop problem with my last 2 laptops. I have a small extension lead that has the ground removed which i plug my laptop power supply in to. It's been working for me for around 8 years with no problems. I've occasionally turned up to a gig and forgot my ungrounded extension and just...

Re: Great, basic & inexpensive soundcard for Live performance?

if you have an express slot, echo indigo dj has good drivers, low latency, 2 stereo outputs and sounds great. I've used one for years and never had a problem.

I also have an echo audiofire2 which has a similar spec except with 2 inputs as well and I like that just as much.

Re: Any Top Gear fans?

aha, Tories is the coloquial term for the conservative party. They are vaguely equivalent to the Republicans in the US, but with more emphasis on inheritance and the rights of the aristocracy. Right wing, but with a populist spin catering to the idiot masses. So lets imagine if the Tea Party had a ...

Re: recording arpeggiator MIDI output

some VST's do have a setting to output the generated notes as MIDI. I know this is possible with audiorealism bassline. not sure about any other VST's though
