Re: Okay is it just me, or is the Abes summing bus kinda bad?

your problem is that it doesnt sound the same when you export it. So the problem is your export setting Heres what works for me 1. 16bit 2. Normalized 3. No dithering Now some will chime in and give you good reasons of why you shouldnt do it that way. Let me be the first one. Why would you ex...

I think that the latest version is 4.5.3 (that's what's running on mine).

Re: Variable set of midicontrol?

If you decide to use patches on the effect unit, and given that it's Roland it probably expects Program Change (PC) messages, you have to first figure out how to send PCs to the unit. I think that if you put a MIDI clip on the arrange track with the program change enabled in the clip inspector (see ...

Re: How To Convert M4a To AIFF Without Losing Metadata + Art?

Hi,

I don't think that AIFF can do embedded artwork.

I import mp3s and m4as into Live all the time. I wonder why yours are incompatible?

Re: Smart hardware dudes.

do you mean just a center detent or a bunch of stepped positions? one question is what you expect from the detent points; do you want them to send specific numeric values, like say 0, 16, 32, 48, ... or would you accept something in the neighborhood? a good quality detent pot should have pretty tigh...

Re: Live and power conditioner issue?

My guess is that you're getting a voltage drop from the UPS (battery backup) and another from the Furman. You are probably right at the lower limit of the voltage that the computer needs, and the lights push you over the edge. There should be no need for a power conditioner downstream of a UPS, as a...

Re: Midi sync 2 laptops + Virus TI delay compensation

The only way I can get a steady BPM on the Virus is either to dial it in on the Virus itself (with MIDI clock rx set to off on the Virus) or to send it a steady MIDI clock over a MIDI cable in standalone mode. VC and Live really don't play well together in my experience...

Re: New Macbook Pros

I'm going with a mac mini when I get my bonus check at the end of the month. Hopefully they'll announce upgrades soon so I don't pay near full price for something that will be out of date within a week. me too, hoping to get a new mac mini for use on stage. With laptop parts rather than desktop? yo...

Re: Undo.cfg has reached it's full capacity

This is most probably happening because you are using the wrong object in M4L to automate parameters. live.remote~ does not accumulate undo steps. I forget offhand what the control-rate variant of live.remote~ is called, but it *does* accumulate undo steps as the parameter is automated. Using live.r...

Re: Putting arguments in the device's name ?

sorry for the delay responding, was out of town. Yeah, the only way to accomplish that (parameters belong to live set) is to put the parameter values into live.blahblah UI objects, i.e., as widgets in your interface, and send them as values into the patcher/bpatcher rather than hard-coding them in t...

Re: Surprised by Blind Listening Test

I also use Live's native plugs more and more, and third party plugs less and less. The only third party plugs I still use regularly are u-he's synths. I occasionally use a third party reverb, but the more time I spend with Live's Reverb the more I think it is also underrated and can do lots of good ...

Re: Sampler device multisample efficiency

Live will load the file and use the shared copy in example 2. If you look at the partner instruments that Ableton commissioned, some use the single file method and others use the multiple file method. I think that all of the velocity layers I've seen have been done in the single file form, including...

Re: Ableton for live performance - questions

concerning click, I set up a simple MIDI track with a Simpler / Sampler that has a click sound, and I have a loop on the track that I stretch out to the length of the song. (This is in arrangement view.) This could be frozen to make an audio track. Usually I put a few audio cues in there as well, li...
