I have to agree with Spiderprod. This thing (for 160 bucks, no less) gives me a big ol' woody. I'll almost certainly be buying one. Guests and Mbazzy's points are valid, but only moderately important...here's why: A mouse is only one-thing-at-a-time. You don't have "true" tactile relation to the fad...

I highly, highly reccomend the Layla! Color me stunned that more people do not use this audio interface. People! Pay attention. It's a PCMIA-card...it's BETTER than Firewire...and it FREES up your firewire port (or ports) for an external drive. No sharing of firewire bandwidth necessary. Frankly, I'...

Yeah...but the only catch with those is that you need a separate board or flat piece to keep the laptop from falling between the arms!

Some friends of mine had great success last week with a standard, black music stand. Not only is it adjustable, and serves as a portable laptop-sized table, but you can make it mostly vertical and stretch the laptop open to view the screen almost at 90 degrees. It looks cool, too. For my part, I kee...

It won't work that way. Live only let's you assign a blanket midi command, not two like you're hoping. So you can assign a CC command of say, 54 on Chan. 3. So anything on chan 3 on CC 54 will be both faster and slower tempo...therefore you would need to use a knob or fader, not a button. See, with ...

Since I'm primarily a keyboardist and performer, I've strived to get the mouse out of my hand as much as possible. My reccomendation would be the Edirol PCR-30. I love mine. The 8 faders control track volume, the eight knobs can control sends, and the 8 buttons contol the track stop buttons. At leas...

Actually, a better way to do it in Live (imho) is to create a special clip (loop) of a click track and put it on every single scene of the whole Live session. As you switch scenes, it will faithfully be locked at every moment. Now, this only works if you're using a multiple-out interface. You theref...

I'll be checking this out the split-second it comes out tomorrow, but I'm a little worried by what it doesn't say. It sounds more like an audio routing manager to work within a program...like Logic or Cubase. This doesn't me any good...but that's just me. What I don't glean from their description is...

Once you hit about 300 clips you will start stuttering. I guarantee it. Start experimenting now! And yes...I leave five or six blank rows between songs...with info in the right column typed in:

name of "song"
bpm
midi channel

Ha! :P Sweetheart, it's much worse than you think. My sets are over 400 clips. Each "song" is a cluster of clips. I use a PCR-30 to fire one scene after another. Let's say you're on Song 1. The tempo (which I type into an empty scene to remind me is 120). I set the PCR to Midi chan 1, and I now have...

Now get ready for the real work: Open each set, select all loops, and copy. Close set. Open the "Show" set. Now paste all scenes (it's an option from the menu). Assign (and label) each "song" to have it's own Midi channel. Song 1 equals midi channel 1, for ex. Copy and paste every loop from your rep...

Well, yeah....I can see your point. 8O

I didn't realize you were doing this live. Might I say, however, that I've only experienced this problem when making my loops via rewire with Reason. No such problem with hand-played parts. Perhaps it's a rewire (and maybe Propellerheads) problem?

I think I've had the same problem.

Try hit the "Res" button to reset the loop. It seems to work after that.

As we speak I'm doing a test run of my BM rig: a P4 laptop with external firewire drive running Ableton and Logic. I've enclosed the laptop in one of those zip-up bags you buy comforters and pillows in! It's fabric on the sides (for ventilation) and plastic in front so you can see the screen. Using ...
