Tell me about it! We'll have to try it out when we return, covered in playa dust. I'll be camped with WooNami Village (Literal and Dogma). Ableton Live shall be a part of the WooNami Bus that shall thoroughly ROCK the Playa for the third straight year. Myself (Solovox) on keys, Ivan DePrume (of Whit...

As long as the VST is on the track channel that you have armed, it should be recorded as you record the clip.

It would still be easier, however, to record vocals and other tracks in a regular Audio/MIDI sequencer like Logic, Cubase, DP, ProTools, etc.

I could be wrong, but I'm almost certain Live will have to reside on the C: drive and be fully installed, etc, to run. Nice try, though.

Not at all. That's weird.

What are your exact specs for your laptop?

Not to nitpick, but I as well don't think that Firewire taxes the CPU. It simply works just like an internal harddrive...no difference whatsoever. That, after all, is what's so cool about it! I just got done playing a set with Live, using a 2.4 P4 and a Firewire 8mb cache 40 gb drive. Even with "com...

Other Midi needs

Yes...I as well would love to see some simple MIDI sequencer attached to Live. Not just a step-sequencer, but a basic Reason-esque sequencer featuring the Quantize-While-Recording feature. That way, you can jam and lay down bass lines, etc, in real time. However, something that would be even easier ...

Hmm...RAM disk? I don't know what that is. My new system is: Pentium 4 2.4 ghz 512 MB DDR ram 40 gb internal drive 40 external firewire drive Layla Laptop PCM card and breakout box This is super-stable, super clear and pretty much everything I would want. Don't get discouraged, DSS! I think it's a s...

LIVE wants $$$$$$$

Well, I figured it out. It wasn't a red D drive problem either. I figured out how to make Live work with sessions of over 300 clips: MONEY. Lots of it. I bought the new super laptop. Still stuttering. I bought an external, 7200 rpm, 8 mb cache firewire drive. Still stuttering. I bought a Layla Lapto...

Well, I just opened up a 305 clip session on my desktop and everything worked great. Of course there are two differences: a PCI audio card (Delta 1010) and a 7200 rpm internal drive. Question: Could this problem (on the laptop) be solved with an external 7200 rpm USB 2.0 drive? Is anybody out there ...

Stuttering with large sessions?

Hey folks, I sent this to tech support, but maybe someone here can help as well: I perform as a one-man band using LIVE. Here is the setup I was using until last week: Pentium III 500 mhz 256 ram 12 gb hard drive Windows 98SE M Audio Quattro Live 1.5.2 I have been making HUGE sessions to fill my son...

Gotcha...

I'm glad to see it's been noticed; perhaps it is on the list to be fixed for 2.0.4?

Thanks,

Well, there may be a point to this...checking my mouse drivers etc. However, it doesn't sound likely because: 1. It only does it on 2.0 and higher. 2. Everything works Kool and The Gang with 1.5.2 3. Absolutely no problems with the mouse exist on any other software on my computer. Logic, Sound Forge...

Sluggish Mouse Input

I'm rather surprised that I haven't seen more comments on this problem; Keyboard Magazine has just mentioned it as well in their review of 2.0... When you use the mouse to drag parameters up and down (like tempo, for example), it is extremely sluggish and unpredictable. Frequently, the numbers stop ...
