Re: Puzzling issue - anyone know what's up?!

Hmm, disabling plugins didn't work. Problem occurs with 32bit and 64 bit versions of Live 9.5beta1, with AU and VST disabled. Runing out of things to turn off. *sigh*

I piggybacked my answer to this onto this other thread, because it seemed to be better documented: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=217381&p=1680977#p1680977

Re: Puzzling issue - anyone know what's up?!

Minimal won't help! I have this problem as well. It's not related to a plugin, at least not one loaded up in the set. That said, two things occur to me... Firstly, I should link to the other two threads I can find about this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6822693 and https://forum.ableton.com...

Re: Puzzling issue - anyone know what's up?!

When you take a look at Console while Ableton Live is slow, do you see the whole log filled with messages likes this one? 20.09.15 17:20:07,429 Live[661]: assertion failed: 14F27: libxpc.dylib + 33325 [5C829202-962E-3744-8B50-00D38CC88E84]: 0x13 20.09.15 17:20:07,435 Live[661]: assertion failed: 14...

Re: Support for Polyphonic Aftertouch

+1 for poly pressure, esp. now with max 4 live where it would be a really natural way to transmit extra information about notes between devices

Re: version control for max devices and text patch format.

If you are using SVN there is no reason to create separate projects for each unless you plan to publish them - but Subversion does multi-project repositories very well. (better than, say, git) You might want to make a call in your case based on the subversion manual recommendation or this (slightly ...

thanks @pukunui!

(For peeps on a Mac, that path "c74/init" translates, AFAICT, to "/Applications/Max5/Cycling '74/init")

Re: version control for max devices and text patch format.

@pukunui thanks! that's a solid gold tip!

Er, where is the init file location/syntax docuemtned? searching for "init file" in the max docs reveals nothing.

Re: The Ability for Suite Instruments to Load Tuning Files

Yes, I would very much love to have loadable/saveable tunings. AFAICT you can often hack it by using a pitch bend on every note and so on, but then things like arpeggiators go all wrong :(

Re: version control for max devices and text patch format.

@pukunui Oh yes, it "works" fine in the sense that the VCS stores the content. perhaps I should have been clearer: for me, half the point of the version control system is not just storing different versions of a patch, but also working out what has changed between those versions, and this only reall...

Re: version control for max devices and text patch format.

So we meet again, @jon_moore! Yeah, I tend to use git or mercurial myself rather than subversion. However, my question is specific to max for live... versioning works just fine for my pure max patches ( e.g. ) - it's the live-specific "amxd" files that mess with it. Nonethelss, good point, I'll see ...

Re: anyone else missing "building blocks" and "tools" folders?

@jon_moore

Thanks. But I too that snapshot just minutes after doing a complete repair on my library! it took 3 hours, and at the end there were still no max example Building Blocks.

version control for max devices and text patch format.

OK, this is a pretty geeky question, but I figure I'm in pretty bloody geeky discussion group here. Version control for your max patches is what a lot of the kids are doing these days - see this monome discussion on what "version control" is and this excellent basement hum series on how to do it. th...
