Re: Scared to play Live live. Suddenly.

Thank you for the sympathy! Were you able to perform on the nights where it all went wrong? The Micron has some pretty neat groovebox type capabilities, so I suppose the show would go on, but I'd surely sweat more than usual. Nervous wreck indeed!

Scared to play Live live. Suddenly.

I am posting this in the lounge because this is the only part of the forum where adults can express themselves freely. Oh, wait . . . Also, I am drunken. So I have done a few shows of improvised live looping (using the name Platypus). No problems, except that the set up took over an hour. So I decid...

Re: Classics of Electronic music

I scared several women by playing Synergy during sex. People hadn't heard that shit yet in the 70's.

Right on! This place is greatly useful, inspiring, entertaining, and at times odd.

Speaking of which - booksofbokonon, I love your music! Where can I catch a show?

Re: Should this PC configuration be enough for Live?

I have a similarily specced machine, w/ 2 GB ram, and yes you can do a ton of stuff! Stay away from hungry 3rd party vsts and put verbs etc on sends, and you can do amazing things. Remember when none of this was possible? The limitations are liberating, ultimately!

Re: clearing buffers in looper

Same problem here - I wrote automation to clear 6 loopers w/ 1 button and it always goes BONK when I hit it . . . I make it into a joke when I perform. But I don't find it very funny anymore.

Re: Netbooks and Live... literally!

I dont have a netbook, but you might want to try XP Lite, and visit Black Vipers website for advice on removing Windows services, and Sound on Sound (I think?) has a tutorial on how to streamline for audio. +1 on reducing background junk . . . I have an old cheapo laptop that is kicking butt for Liv...

Re: Some questions before switching from RC-50 to Live 8/Laptop

Hi again! If you look closely, the setup idea I mentioned isn't about using returns, but grouped tracks - the beauty of it is that you can separate the input signal from the looped signal, enabling you to apply Live's effects to your loops without effecting (affecting?) your input signal. It also pr...

Re: Some questions before switching from RC-50 to Live 8/Laptop

Here is a setup you guys may want to try (I'm lazy so this is copied from an old post): Set up two audio tracks and then group them, monitor in on both, audio to the group, group to master (or sends). The first track is your input channel, the second track receives its signal from the first. On the ...
