Re: Can I select 2 separate audio interfaces in Lives Prefs?

it's not as good as the 'aggregate audio' feature on MAC but on Windows one cold use ASIO4ALL as 'audio hub' layer between serveral audio hardware pieces and Live.

turn off warping by default

is there a way to have warping turned off by default other than the pref 'auto warp long samples'?

I need the warping only from time to time and it seems CPU goes down significantly as soon as I turn it off in all clips.

Re: Dream PC (is this overkill?)

I had some problems with CD master writing on an external LG model. the thing turned out to be crap. there are huge differences between burners. you might want to open a new thread with a subject "Recommended CD-Burners" or similar. I'm not a pro when it comes to recommendations. got mine from ebay ...

Re: Dream PC (is this overkill?)

no overkill IMO, but... I'd go with a 128GB SSD for system and Apps + 2x 1TB 7200s (as software raid 0) for data additionally I'd check for a better DVD+-RW drive. these lite-on/whatever/you-name-it drives are pretty useless when it comes to mastering. watch out for a used Plextor PX-716A on ebay. j...

GR4 has a very good built-in noise gate.

Re: Reamping and overdrive pedals

no, 3phase is right. let the overdrive pedal do the 'crunch' and keep the mic preamp under 0db. I usually do it this way: record the guitar tracks 'native' to Live then I use the 'external effect' to one output of my interface, go through the guitar multieffect/tube preamp/whatever and then back in ...

send your inquiry at support@ableton.com - they will assist you.

(it might be a good idea to further specify your system, as the information you've given in your question lacks some details...)

Re: Thinking Of Upgrading

the interface is fully compatible. Live has a slightly different approach as a DAW but I personally like it very much - just upgraded to Suite (good offers these days). I'm not very much into electronic music (beats, looping and stuff), as I use it mainly as a DAW for composing and recording in arra...

Re: Using Ableton Exclusively

Live 8 Suite and some plugins (GR4 - much better than AMP, Ozone 4 and 2caudio Breeze reverb plus some others). the only thing I do 'outside' is mastering, which takes place in Wavelab Elements.

Re: Is the M-Audio Fast Track any good?

my guitarist uses it on Vista x86 - no problems with it whatsoever.

on windows generally turn off all unnecessary devices (WiFi, CardReader, BlueTooth etc.) and get rid of those preinstalled tools from the manufacturer. oh, yes, and get the lastest drivers fro your OS from the avid wesite.
