nice work tom! and gorgeous website design btw. the tune reminds of eat static means trentemoller, which is meant as a compliment of course! i'd be interested to hear how the original sounds came about? for instance the drum clips are complete audio clips, but did they start out as midi impulse clip...

Re: A BIG question to all of you UK people!! (immigration n00b)

2) which city in the UK there is the good balance between the cost of rent and music life (electronic music in particular)? i'm just a musician in the end, and hopefully i can make a living from gigs. if you're not wanting to pay a lot of rent then avoid london for sure. i lived near bristol which ...

arranging in live

i've been using live for a couple of years now and am still having some trouble finding a comfortable workflow when it comes to arranging complete tracks. a typical tune starts off with me setting up a rough structure in session view using scenes, but pretty soon i want to start laying out the track...

yes logic has all three of those. but nothing quite like warping or session view.

i guess the balance tips depending on what you want to do.

i fired up the midi monitor in logic to see exactly what command's being received, and it's simply midi note C-2 on channel 1 at max velocity (127). i've also set up two buttons to emulate select track left (C2) and select track right (C#2) - together with track arm, this makes it really straightfor...

for your first question you could use the tranzport emulation to disarm the current track (see my earlier post) - this will stop recording and the clip will begin looping. however this way, the clip length won't be rounded up to the global quantize value, so the enter key is probably still more usef...

you know what, this thread motivated me to start looking for a solution for this arm shortcut again. and i think i've found it! seems i've been barking up the wrong tree looking through the mackie commands - the solution is to emulate a tranzport midi controller message. see my post here for more in...

SOLVED: MIDI shortcut for "arm current track"

Well, I don't know if this is common knowledge, I think not as I've been trawling this forum for a solution for some time. But I seem to have found a way to Arm the currently focussed track using a midi controller button. The solution is to set up a Control Surface as Tranzport in the live preferenc...

good god! really? i've been trying to figure that out where the "arm current track" shortcut is for months. care to tell? does it involve some sneaky mackie emulation or something?

Re: Ableton 7 it's a joke !!!

yes ok, but i can't use mousewheel or +,- keys for zooming(like in logic), that's is very important for me... actually i'm pretty sure that you can use the +,- keys for zooming. i'm looking forward to trying the ctrl+alt dragging for scrolling. if i can assign ctrl+alt to my middle mouse button i'l...

apparently not. it's a real shame and like yourself, i'm also finding it a dealbreaker when it comes to using live as my primary daw. there's a thread about it here, i'd love to see this implemented in a future version. http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50033&postdays=0&postorder=asc&star...

in the de:bug interview somebody posted here recently, gerhard said they're actually starting to drop features from live. which to me sounds like focus on what live does best -- so live and logic will make for a great combo, imho. that's a shame as live is so inspirational as a composition tool. bu...
