first couple of tracks with live 7

so, i've finally finished a few tracks in live. i'd really appreciate any feedback - good or bad.

other than the predator and albino synths, the 2007 & 2008 tracks are done 100% in live. there are also some older tracks made with logic.

hoi cids, yes you can just install the remote sl software which is freely downloadable from novation's site. it works fine without the hardware connected.

i was getting this at first, but haven't seen it for a while since disabling any unnecessary inputs/output in live, and turning off all the usb>midi through in the hardware. still having some issues with AU instruments, and automap-follows-focus doesn't work with VST's but I'm really hoping Automap ...

thanks for that tricil. though actually my vst's seem to be organised like that automatically and i didn't move any files: automapped plugs are in the User folder and all the regular versions are in the Local folder which I just keep collapsed. by the way, the "automap follows focus" does work on my...

Re: Remote 37SL fader movement/resistance

all 8 faders on my sl37 feel the same, but it's only a week old so maybe it's just a matter of time.

i do have the annoying problem that some of the smaller buttons (scene up/down/fire) get stuck down and i almost have to pick the rubber out of the faceplate with my fingernail to get them out again.

seems to use the songbird player from firefox which i thought looked quite promising as an itunes alternative.

anyway, it looks like the launch has been completely cocked up: http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol ... 264556.ece

as far as i know this is only possible with macros, but then you're limited to eight controls at a time.

What if you want to control more than one plugin at a time via automap? then you're better off using traditional midi mapping. the live automap template leaves the 8 rotary pots free for this kind of mapping, or otherwise you could create a user template. but the SL doesn't respond to midi feedback...

Re: Why does automap suck?

Does the keyboard Automap to control whatever the front active window is? For example, I click on a Sampler instrument, and then the keyboard automatically loads the map template and the little LCDs above the little knobs show the parameter for each? sort of... if you're using the live template, th...

4. 'Automap Focus Follows Plug-in UI' setting has no effect (the manual states 'activating this causes the SL to map to which ever plug-in is currently selected in your DAW' - I still have to manually enable the 'A' on the automap strip to get the remote to switch plugin mappings) this setting appe...

i use a spare button on my logitech mouse mapped to ctrl+b. couldn't live without it!

the other buttons are mapped to tab, shift+tab, zoom in, zoom out, and the hand tool (for panning around the arrange window).
