Re: To Maschine Or Not To Maschine

It would be huge if that happened
I agree. Drum racks are soooo close to being great but some integrated hardware and a bit better slicing would be amazing.

Re: To Maschine Or Not To Maschine

was mentioned in passing...no specifics...but I would bet on Ableton 9 and a new Akai controller by the holidays....and I have no real knowledge of any of this.

Re: To Maschine Or Not To Maschine

This has been an interesting thread as I've been considering a Mikro (just 'cause the desk space i have is limited). And I did catch an artist at a recent master class (who shall remain nameless) mention that AKAI has something up their sleeves for Live so I'm guessing a fully integrated drum machin...

fx on only part of spectrum

One thing I miss from Logic is the Stereo Spreader. I love how its set up where you can pull a slider to select what part of the spectrum you want to effect and then set the amplitude of the effect separately across the filtered range as well. What's the best approach replicating this in Live? I tri...

Doesn't he realize that Live has inferior sound quality?

My prediction for LogicProX: much less mouse based in favor of magic trackpad gestures incorporated intelligently throughout.

Re: THANKS ABLETON FOR THE FREE RETRO SYNTHS !!!

I had an Opus 3 back in the 80's for playing Flock of Seagulls covers in my grade school cover band. Wish I still had it but the sample set is giving me great flashbacks. Thanks PM.

Re: Will I survive just fine with Ableton Suite?

It's a pity then that he's lying. Not that I really care all that much but just curious what motivation someone like FlyLo would have to lie about using outdated kit (so obviously not getting paid to tell people to use the new hotness) on Twitter. There was a thread on gearslutz at one point where ...

Re: Will I survive just fine with Ableton Suite?

Check out Flying Lotus' twitter stream. He was lamenting yesterday that Reason 3.5 doesn't work on his new MacPro as that's all he's used up until this point.

ultrabeat
I agree UB sounds good but I really want some of what they were smoking when they designed the UI.

Re: For production, why is Logic better than Ableton?

How do you do this? Click on the top slot in the drum rack so you can see the simpler/sampler. Raise velocity on that one then right click and choose "copy value to siblings". You also might want to increase the release a bit and do the same to that param. And check out the many tutorials for savin...

Re: For production, why is Logic better than Ableton?

IMO Logic sounds better right out of the box. Its taken me awhile to find out how to make Ableton sound the same, particularly in the low end. Keep in mind Ableton is configured out of the box for live tweaking. And I do feel they made some strange decisions with default settings, like in Simpler fo...

Re: How to save cropped samples into a desktop sample folder.

There's lots of ways to do this. I like to do it in Arrangement. Crop out sections of a song and drag to a new audio track. Go into each of those cropped sections and get them looped how you want them and control-J to render to a new audio file. Then go to each new rendered section, right click and ...
