thanks everyone for thinking about this one. it drove me crazy to have bragged about how powerful the application was and not be able to fulfill his request!! kabuki - wouldn't your suggestion change the pitch? i was hoping to find a way to slow it without artifacting and without changing the pitch.

been there.

...but 4 or 5 bpm should not be a problem. mess with the clip settings (aka beats/texture/tone) and enable Hi-Quality. the best grain/flux balance will depend on the specific characteristics of your bassline and what artifacting-type sounds you like/can deal with. just play around. basslines usually...

use clips as envelope loop in operator

I would like to be able to use the amplitude of audio loops as an envelope loop in operator.

this way we can drag and drop other clips to get synth lines matching up with the rest of our loops more seamlessly.

x-station/audio vs. remote

the big difference would seem to be in whether you are using hte remote 25 or the remote 25 audio/x-station. Can anyone else with the x-station corroborate madlab's latency/crackling problem? I have been eyeing the x-stations ever since they came out. if the drivers work, it could bea great device. ...

Re: Remixing question..acapellas

Intriguing idea. How well would this work if you had the actual instrumental mix (assuming it's 100% identical to the vocal mix)? I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I can't :) Theoretically this would work absolutely perfectly, assuming of course the instrumental is 100% identical to the ...

Re: Remixing question..acapellas

I know it is probably impossible to make a perfect acapella, but I was wondering if there are any vsti or eq that do a pretty good job of eliminating enough music to be able to do a remix. Hi. Here are your options: 1) Find an acapella version 2) Find a good singer to make you an acapella version 3...

thanks for the quick response. the problem - i think - with your solution is that looping any small section of a vocal sample will lead to a distinctly non-human "looped" sound. I need some way of reconstructing the formant shifts & spectral changes in the looped section to make it sound like...

grain/flux balance & vocal effects

OK, a non-musician friend gave me a simple task: take a vocal sample, and slow it down to the point where just a few words last 5 minutes preserving the original pitch, and WITHOUT choppy/stuttered artifacts. I am not sure this is mathematically possible - to lengthen (loop) each phoneme the correct...

everybody should give this a listen... it's beautiful stuff and charles cohen is an amazing musician.

this past summer he played a gig for us in the forest. he intentionally coaxed the birds into call and response with his music. the guy is amazingly good and completely improvisational.

hm

sometimes it's fun to get all worked up about the local fuckwad, but all this arguing is having a noticeable impact on the signal to noise ratio. pretty much everyone has probably made up their minds about who they believe, 16Bit or AdamJay, and the rest don't care. So take it private, or get on wit...

yeah, the quattro is pretty finicky. stay away if you have another option.

it took me about 20 installs on my last attempt to get it running properly. I hear people have good luck with ASIO4ALL with it, but the bundled drivers suck.

lol, what, you mean like whining about other people's posts? or the redundancy of 10 requests for a separate audio forum?

anyway, I think it's lively but I guess that's just a personal opinion.

I've never had this problem before. Do they go out of time at 8 minutes sharp? Or sometimes it's 15 minutes, sometimes 5 minutes, etc? Small power fluctuations can cause midi clock hell. That's one consideration. Otherwise, you might try syncing both of them to a third external clock; the redsound m...
