I'm just guessing here, but that looks to me to be an institution/business licensing thing. ie, yes, 100 of us could get together and buy it, but we'd have to form a company to do the buying and the licenses would be to that company, not us as individuals? I'm on the cusp of buying Max/MSP [just wai...

How fast did your power bills ramp up? I'd check the seal on the fridge door, that'd be the first thing to go that would chew eye popping amounts of electricty. Cheap to fix too. If it's an old fridge and you want to kill it, just leave the door open for a couple of days. Guaranteed the motor will b...

Make multiple copies of the same clip (takes no extra memory/hard drive space). Set the start and end point markers in each clip to where you want them.

XP Home supports as many cores as are available in a single CPU slot. So no, it doesn't support dual-dual core, but yes it supports a single quad core. Ableton 6 uses a single thread per track, barring VST issues, so one a quad core processor, if a single track is using 30% of the processor, and you...

Drag the sample into the arrange view, right-click the sample, select Fixed Grid -> Off, Apple (or CTRL) E through the clip separating it into its component sounds. Drag the resultant chopped set back to Session view, right click, crop sample. Then put the cropped samples into Impulse.

Two simple delays in sequence

first LINK -> TIME -> 175ms, 100% wet, 0% feedback
second LINK -> TIME -> 175ms, 50% wet, 75% feedback

seems to work for me?

rep-ruh-zent! i agree that it's ridiculous to claim copyright on a sine wave, but i would hazard a guess that it's possible to copyright a particular sample (ie, including headers etc.). I didn't use presets to create my packet, they were all scratch made in Operator. It was a gruelling session I'll...

Simple solution

I generated these waves myself in Ableton, I consider them to be in the public domain

Sine, Saw, Triangle, Noise and Square.

88.2kHz, 24bit, wav

If you want anything else, just ask :)

If you're a complete rookie, I'd recommend reading the manuals, and running through the lessons (how can be found in the manual). They're very, very helpful.

Unfortunately you're going to have to warp all those tracks again. Ableton is only backwards compatiable, not forwards compatible. I discovered this the hard way too. I've got 6, a bunch of mates are still on 5 [come on guys, get racks already!]. I have to warp on one of their's [or stop being so la...

I personally never had a problem with doing it with my Acer Ferrari or my 17" C2D MacBook Pro, but i can see where the potential for trouble comes from. If you like your warranty on your devices and the manual says "DON'T", and there's a big red sticker on your device saying "DON'T", I'd probably no...
