aha! the performance test is the same as my machine, so it's not system settings, it must be a reaktor setting. Are you sure the sample rate is set to 44.1? If it's set to higher, it'll eat cpu. What about control rate? Mine is 800 hz i think. I don't even know what that does actually. You don't hav...

nope. when I turn off the filters, I get 15% You got some funky monkey going on man. what was the cpu the first time you opened the default patch when it was 8 voices? Did it immediately overload the cpu? I noticed you asked on another thread whether it was even worth installing R5 on a powerbook. A...

latency set to 10ms. 25% 2-osc, 2 voices. sounds nice, but half my cpu to have 5 voices? my pro-53 uses 5%. other great reaktor analog type monsters often use only 10%. In the words of Mugatu "I feel like I'm on crazy pills!" Btw, if you haven't already, try the black and orange arp synths in the UL...

Ya, I think there are other fm synths in the reaktor UL that have more in common with operator, like the FM81S or the FM6, both of which I so far prefer to the FM4. And as far as CPU usage. I can't really see myself using an fm synth with 40% cpu drain instead of my fm7, which typically uses about 8...

I've got a 1.67 Ghz PB with 10.3.9, showing 26% on saw machine for 2-osc with 2 voices. By default it was set to 8 voices, which sounds way better, but uses 68% !! a 2 osc analog modelling synth using 70% of my cpu with 8 voices! Core is supposed to be more cpu friendly. I'm not so impressed by this...

A lot of people are saying that reaktor is overwhelming, and I agree, but it doesn't have to be. If you start by using some ensembles like the junatik, or other simple emulations of hardware analog synths, it's all the same. There are some amazing sounding Juno/arp/roland type emulations in the user...

I noticed you're identical thread at the reaktor forum. You gotta love how everyone at the ableton forum suggested operator, and everyone at the reaktor forum suggested reaktor eh? ;) It's tough to say man, because the price is so different. Operator is on for a good price right now, and would be a ...

Linplug's albino is the tranciest synth I've heard. Rob Papen's blue is good too (he co-designed albino with linplug). Actually, I'm not even a fan of trance, but I think that Both of these synths sound amazing. I used to have albino, and I was amazed by it, but it always sounded too trancy to me, s...

I agree that if you're using samples mainly in reason, then the quality of the sound should be based on the quality of the samples. I think it's the synths that most of us don't like the sound of. The latest prodigy album is a great example. And it was more than just a sketch pad for them. You can h...

"this question again?" hey man, he's new to this, just needs a nudge... yo dude, use the search function, you'll find lots on battery, phatmatik etc. Phatmatik is nice and easy, and has midi drag on to your sequencer, which is fast. If you're into Intakt, I'd say wait a bit. That thing is getting ou...

I think we can all agree here that complex sounds and arrangements are possible in reason. and maybe we can all agree that reason sounds "good" (for the processor load). But I guess the only difference is that many of us feel that other stuff sounds better or 'ahelluvalotbetter', so why use reason w...

One thing that doesn't get mentioned much is how amazing reason is on cpu load. It's not just good on cpu, it's retardedly, supernaturally amazing on cpu. Playing with the demo, I couldn't believe how many synths and effects you can have going, and not see the cpu meter ever go past half way (on my ...

one other important thing you may not be aware of. If you don't absolutely need to use the "complex" algorithm for your audio loops, then don't. One loop can use 10% of your cpu with that. You're probably using it because it defaults to "complex". It sounds quite good when changing the tempo drastic...

hey man, I don't have spektral delay, so I can't say from experience, but I was just over at the N.I. forum and took a quick look in the SD page. There was someone who posted a problem with live not recognizing the vst, but there were two replies saying SD works fine with Live 5. Your best bet is to...
