Re: Live and Pro Tools

yes, you can import both audio and midi into Live. I'm not familiar with pro tools so i don't know how pro tools handles its bouncing though. I hope it has an option to export each track individually including the midi tracks. Now if you're using a pro tools native instrument then you'll have to bou...

Re: Your Master Track

I really can't find a reason why NOT to have Limiter and EQ (cutting ultra-lows and ultra-highs) on your master channel. Unless you' re really mad at your ears and speakers :/ Just because the limiter is there, you don't have to push it, it is just there to protect you. This all applies 100x more i...

Re: My Full Review & Experience Of Point Blank Music Online...

I on the otherhand never liked the free point blank music videos.. Not sure how much you paid for them but it seems like the free vids from dubspot are pretty decent. I'm planning on buying Nick's sound design tutorials though. Everyone here seems to think they're really great.

Re: Ableton's inability

i want to be excited for L9, but considering what happened with 8 where the release was laughable and not even RTM, while flagship features were retracted while some other flagship features didn't even work properly, i find it very hard to justify any kind of coin sent their way. the only reason i ...

Re: top 10 reasons the Live forum is awesome

You will soon see though that after a while, it's the same questions over and over from newcomers who have just "discovered" Ableton. Sometimes you strike it lucky and see 2 of the same on the first page. There are some useful topics here but I wouldn't go so far to say awesome. so true haha. a fav...

Re: Ableton's inability

I can definitely see where you are coming from with this, but I also feel that Live has started to adopt so many of the features often associated with a typical DAW, that in a way it should be obligated to keep up with these standards. I mean, Live is advertised as a program for " for composition, ...

Re: Why is ableton working on yet another beta that is 32bit?

@olly.. just because you have no use for 64-but ableton (or more likely cant understand why you need it), with your 10 puny tracks playing crap noone cares about, does NOT mean that it isnt a valid request.. So what if you dont care about it? ALLLLLLLLL other major DAW's are 64bit now.. so you just...

Re: Apogee Duet 2 Owners/users your insights and experiences plz

also consider the rme babyface. Over all the threads I've read almost everybody says that the 2 sound identical in terms of quality. where the babyface excels though is in features. for example, want to expand your i/o for the one time you'd like to record acoustic drums. impossible with the duet bu...

Re: Louder Headphone Mix?

can't you just turn up the volume on the headphone output? That's what it's there for :P if you're not getting enough gain from your headphone output then that means you need a better headphone amp.. there's a lot of cheap ones out there. For simple monitoring purposes even the behringer headphone a...

Re: Mainstage with Ableton - First Thoughts

I just played the Ableton piano back to back with the Apple piano and bass, etc. I played some drums on the Ultrabeat and also the drum rack. There is no comparison. The Apple piano simply sounds like a real piano. The acoustic instruments sound real. The Ableton sounds sythetic. If they were even ...

Re: Anyone using $30 Mainstage 2 with Ableton Live?

unfortunately, mainstage can only act as a rewire master and not as a slave. you can use IAC and soundflower to route midi to mainstage and route the audio back into live.

Where does sound designing come in?

I'm sure this is more of a personal thing but while you're composing a song where exactly do you take out the synth and start creating the sounds? I'm stuck on if either I should write the parts first then make the synth parts later or make the synth sounds first then write the parts. Also, I'm just...

Re: Can you use more that just 2 outputs on your master?

what's wrong with just using an extra track? specific reason why you can't do this? AFAIK it's not possible to send the master to 2 separate stereo outs besides bussing it.

Re: Export to MP3

this has been discussed a lot. Valid arguments from both sides. But personally I'm on the "don't add this feature" side. Unnecessary.
