Simple Maschine question

If I were to get a Maschine Jam, could I use a (non) Maschine pad controller for velocity sensitive pads?

IE: does Maschine software allow other pad controllers to play notes?

Re: Numark Mixtrack Pro III and Ableton Bridge/Serato

NO experience with that setup, but if you already have an audio interface I would recommend the mixtrack 3 controller to save a few $$. The "pro" sound card is crap.

Re: Windows 10.. Is it a lemon?

Windows 10 has been working fine for me. So has my Focusrite 8i6 which is nearly four years old at this point.

Re: Instrument Rack vs Drum Rack

Drum rack has pre configured cells for dropping samples into in a common 4x4 layout.

Instrument rack: no pre configured instrument for launching samples from, but it will automatically select a Simpler for each sample

You could try making a DIY vocal booth like this:

Cheap, easy, and it's not likely going to make worse results!

Re: Newb PC builder... How many processor cores?

Per the data in the "performance test" threads over the years, you want as many cores as you can get (within a reasonable budget) This is because Ableton delegates each operation (plugin, fx, etc) to a core = the more cores, the more simultaneous operations before you get audio dropouts. RAM and HD ...

Re: decision on beat controller

Sounds like you want good feeling pads for an affordable price: -remove the Akai from your list, their pads are poor (unless you get an MPC) -PadKontrol is very good, but I couldn't make the software editor work on my computer so I return the pk. -Have a look at the Quneo by Keith McMillen. It's a v...

Re: SSDs, HDDs, and lots of conflicting info

Used option A for my last two builds. Now I guess I'm on option C because I have a few backup drives.

Option B is the only one I would NEVER recommend, (thought my experience is from spinning platter drives). YMMV with an SSD, but I would avoid the "hybrid" drives 100%.

Re: Nectar Elements for less than 15 bucks?

I got it for a similar price and (for this price) it is excellent!. It offers many presets and allows you to slightly customize parameters. A quick and easy way to sound better then (I could achieve at least) individual effects and racks.

Re: How to manage the time between loading a liveset?

We should do like the old 60s folk singers and tell stories between songs. "Now let me tell you about the time I had to send away to eBay for a floppydrive power transfer band for an SY85. Now I know what you are thinking, those Yamahas have all the logic boards installed using weird lugs which rea...
