Re: Ableton Live 10

For Ableton to return their focus to being far more about LIVE performance than a be all do all DAW. For me, that means: - large improvements in managing user created presets/racks - vast overhaul of the way that said presets can be recalled and loaded (glitch free!) into a set you are currently per...

Re: APC40 MIDI Phantom - Dials Moving On Their Own!

I had the same problem and found a relatively easy fix. It is indeed dust or some sort of interference in the encoders, that must be cleaned out. The fix: Deoxit f5! http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-F5S-H6-CAIG-DeoxIT-Faderlube/dp/B00006LVF1/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428553963&sr=8-1&keywords=deoxit+f5 Stuf...

Re: Strategy for Fade-to-grey effect?

What about just making a duplicate clip that has automation which resets the fade to grey at the beginning of the clip?

Re: What are some ways to achieve this sound?

The volume peaks and drops can be done either by sidechaining this with a track that is playing a kick, or you could use the autopan effect.

Re: Roland System 1 Plug Out Sh101 OSX 10.6.8 problem HELP!!

It originally only was available as a VST3 file. VST3 is not supported in Live. I think Roland said they were (or already have) made VST 2.4 versions. You should check their website.

Re: AKAI Advance looks promising, but unfinished...

I've given up on the idea of properly trying to operate a DAW/VST with mainly a controller, not looking at the screen nor using a mouse. I'm (until/if something great is made) in the same boat. I have realized, for me at least, that the 8 device control knobs on my good old APC40 work pretty damn w...

Of course, and by that same reasoning I trust that your computer is made of weed :)

Re: Using hardware monosynths - whats your workflow?

Another option is recording a sample and opening it in Simpler or Sampler. I realize it feels like you won't be able to manipulate it any more, but in reality Sampler has deeper synthesis options than a lot of hardware synths. Plus, you'll have a real analog tone to build upon and layer. Here are tw...

Re: APC Mini - can't switch banks - FIX IT !!!!!

Does holding shift and pressing an arrow move the "red box" (or whatever color mini is) 8 spaces up/down/left/right? That's how it worked on the original APC40.

I haven't used Push so I'm not sure exactly what type of movement/selection you're looking to do.

Question about Maschine/Live behavior: device control knobs

I've been eying the Maschine Mikro mk2 as a nice, small means of drum and VST control but I had a question for users of either Mikro or regular Maschine. I have an APC40, which auto maps the 8 device controller knobs to anything selected. Given that the Mikro only has 1 knob, would the other paramet...

Re: Audio interface for production

don't go Numark!!! They don't even make an ASIO driver for their lowest ranges (their manual tells you to try ASIO4ALL!) Free option: if you're on Windows, search for Asio4All. It's a free driver that turns your built in sound card into a low latency (but still poor sounding many times) sound card! ...

Re: Use Ableton for sampling or MPC/hardware? Complete Newb

That's cool man! I think there are two purchases that do make sense early on: - a sound card with ASIO drivers (smart to do some research here as it's easy to throw money away on a cheap ass one you will outgrow) - and a decent control surface: APC40(mk1, mk2, mini, key 25 are all good for performin...

Re: Use Ableton for sampling or MPC/hardware? Complete Newb

I think the KISS method applies here: keep it simple, stupid! (not that I'm calling you stupid though) You have a LOT to learn about with just Ableton. Why complicate and double that learning time by adding even more gear. My vote is see if you enjoy using Ableton first. It CAN do everything you wan...
