Re: Low latency 2-6 channel soundcards for live ableton performa

Seriously, save up and get the RME Babyface. Nothing else has the quality build and drivers, and they support their gear for seemingly ever with new updates. Otherwise, you are getting about the same level (cheap)components no matter what you spend under $600. The other thing to consider, you most l...

Re: Is SySex the only way? (Better preset management)

You know what, that is a cool shortcut that I never knew (sure there are tons of others!). I don't know if it solves everything, but I'll mess around with it.

Re: Arturia Spark LE, b-day present

Not to discourage you, but I had poor luck with the SparkLE and I ended up returning it. Between the double trigs and the seizure power LEDs I couldn't get into it. I think Arturia has some great ideas and sounds, but are too small a company to adequately develop their MANY product lines. My solutio...

Re: Is SySex the only way? (Better preset management)

Another inherent flaw of having multiple instances (as opposed to one instance pulling from a bank of presets): MIDI control mapping! Sure I can drop an Analog into an instrument rack and get...8 whole macros! However, I've already lost one of the eight because it will have to serve as my Chain Sele...

Is SySex the only way? (Better preset management)

Maybe I'm going about it all wrong and you guys can help me out, maybe not? I'm pretty much 100% ITB for my sound generation, and while I love what I can do with racks/instruments for production, I feel like the management and recalling of all the different presets I generate is so poor in Live when...

Ku77er: "But my honest opinion in this is that you can do anything you want with just a copy of Ableton Suite. And above all no one would ever be able to tell you, oh I can hear you used Ableton for this..." This is so true! We are by far our own worst critic! No ordinary listener is EVER going to k...

Re: I have Ableton Suite but now I heard iZotope Ozone/Alloy...

Ableton's native plugins are excellent, and you're wrong to just assume they couldn't be as good as alloy. There is nothing special about Alloy, or even Ozone for that matter (though obviously it's designed for a different realm than mixing). You start down the "maybe that thing over there is bette...

Re: Did you know it's possible to kill the Windows Key?

Take a flat head screw driver and pull it off. You can always click the start menu to get the same action.

Re: How to add drum kits in addition to existing one in rack

well, you can and you can't. to do what I think you're trying to do (max out a drum rack by filling all it's cells) you have to drag each instrument (sample) into a cell. The alternative to the right click the top of the drum rack (where the name is), select "group" from the drop down, turning it in...

Re: Miroslav Philharmonik from IK Multimedia

Miroslav is decent, although I've had mixed luck with IK plugin stability in Live (sample tank 3 works pretty well though) One thing to consider: if you own Live Suite, there is a large, free orchestral pack available through Ableton. It's not great, but if you just want some classical instruments i...

Re: New Sonar gone monthly subscription. Might Ableton go same?

If things start swaying this way across the board I think it’s another point for Apple and Logic. They don’t need the money for their software so they aren’t going to go subscription. If anything this might just lead people right to Logic, already one of the cheaper but high quality DAWs. Not a dis...

Odd behavior: duplicating contents of midi clip

I have a 2 bar midi clip for some aux percussion, and I want to lengthen it to add and remove some hits (make a little variation). IE a conga loop, and I add and delete a few hits for variety. The easiest way to do this SHOULD be to select all events CTR+A in the clip and hit CTR+D to duplicate it. ...

Re: Standard to Suite upgrade: can't make up my mind

As someone who has been using Live since V1, I held out until V9 for the Suite upgrade. The things (IMOP) for you to consider: Do you already have a decent collection of 3rd party VST plug ins? If you already do, then I'm not sure it would be worth it. If you don't, the Suite is potentially a very n...
