Re: Virtual Studio Monitoring - headphone mixing is REAL

I like my VRM box very much and my mixes have improved quite a bit since I started using it. As for latency, I run Scarlett 8i6 SPDIF > VRM box and yes there is a noticeable increase in latency if you're physically playing a VSTi. It's not meant for that, but rather, build your track and then have a...

Re: Can't we MIDI map the Drum Rack "square outline"?

Keith McMillen's Quneo can get you four 4x4 pad grids very easily with a little mapping. Otherwise, there are plenty of mappable controls on the Quneo that could be used with the midi pitch effect as mentioned earlier. Unfortunately, Ableton made a poor choice in that aspect of drum racks. If they w...

Re: Live 9 too many crashes ?

I have purchased Tracktion 5 for next to nothing and I gotta say, it's pretty damn nice! Definitely worth checking for anyone that is frustrated and just wants something straight forward that works. Not one crash, with the same set of plug I was using in Live. The nice thing is T5 and Live both supp...

Re: Live 9 too many crashes ?

Live is by and far the least stable program on my computer these days, which is sad. Been with it since V1 and I don't plan on going further with it unless there is a full rewrite for version 10. I have done my best to eliminate any problematic plugs from my workflow, and even run only built in plug...

Re: Akai MPC Element for drum racks...?

You can map it any way you want. Preset 1 can run the Ableton APC40(ish) script. Presets 2-7 can be drum racks. Preset 8-11 can be each be 64x4 grids of notes (think 4 stacked piano's going up or down octaves. [be advised, they are adequate for note entry, but definitely won't replace a piano]). Pre...

Re: Rant: Why I hate Live

I think you should demo Tracktion 5 honestly. It addresses a number of the points you mention.

Ahem, Quneo is the right size and durable as hell! See here: http://youtu.be/s-SwEmg3lGU

Re: Akai MPC Element for drum racks...?

Gotta recommend the Quneo as well. One of the most versatile midi controllers out there, though that does mean you will need to do some editing in the supplied editor at times. Quneo also has some of the finest pads outside of professional high end electronic percussion pads (DrumKat etc). Padkontro...

correct way to save Reaktor preset within a chain?

Having trouble when I load a song I was working on that used a Reaktor FX patch in the chain. When I load any song with Reaktor FX patches, they don't open the actual ensemble, it's just a blank Reakto instance and I have to re-associate the ensemble that was used (which is tough to remember after a...

clip colors conform to track header color!

EXAMPLE I set my kick track header color to red, any clip recorded in this row is also that same color. Makes organizing clips by type an easier visual reference. As is, the track names carry to the clip when recorded, but not the color (unless I'm missing something in preferences?)

Re: Multi-out interfaces for use w/Live

I've had a Scarlett 8i6 for about 3 years. It hasn't given me much trouble at all on W7 64bit, Asus Mobo, dedicated USB 2 PCIe card. Focusrite has gone far beyond what I expected and is still releasing software updates to this range of cards. I switched to it from a Presonus Firepod (decent card as ...
