Re: I finally have some money!!!! NI Massive, worth it?

The dumb, it flows from him like a river. From Wiki: "Reaktor is a graphical modular software music studio of proprietary license developed by Native Instruments (NI). It lets musicians and sound specialists design and build their own instruments, samplers, effects and sound design tools. It is sup...

Re: Help the Newb- Push and 9 Questions

I loved working with Ableton 7 years ago, and now I want to pick up again. But I'm a confused semi-newb. It's only a couple weeks, should I buy now and wait and just do a clean install of 9 standard when it releases?... will they let me do that if I buy 8 now, or is the 25% off deal mean that I hav...

Re: If money was no object???

You need those big legendary AKAI pads. The pads on the Akai models are definitely legendary, for requiring mod kits or DIY electrical tape fixes to make them playable. Really? Maybe it was the "swing" that is legendary for AKAI. Anyway, I like mine much better than the "Dynamic Pad Bank" on my Fan...

Re: I finally have some money!!!! NI Massive, worth it?

"weak sounding Absynth..." Milfhunter gets the prize for bad judgment calls. IMO Absynth is NI's most unique synth, harder to wrap your head around at first but infinitely more complex and tonally versatile than Massive. :P I used to think it was a stupid gimicky POS with an interface out of the ma...

Re: If money was no object???

Well, for me I have some disposable income to buy stuff for Ableton. And I have bought many things and then sold them. I can tell you that all you really need are piano style keyboard input, drum pad input and slider, knob input. To me Push setup/mapping looks nice but would not help me out in the l...

Re: iPad

I have had a couple of iPads which I use mostly as a movie viewer / book magazine reader when traveling. I have also used Ableton for years and every VST that came along. Though I enjoy playing around with iKaossilator (only a toy) Yamaha sequencer (decent, but not a creative tool), iElectribe (fun ...

Re: Simple warping question

I think your problem with the audio is you need to double click on your sample clip and below in the "warp" section you need to select the dropdown for "complex pro." As far as the tempo, simply make your project tempo 100 bpm, drag your sample into ableton track and it should be golden. If not, the...

Re: I finally have some money!!!! NI Massive, worth it?

I have Komplete but don't use most of it. I have gone to Kontakt for some choirs and symponic stuff and Battery a few times for some drums, but not often. That said, it is dumb to buy Kontact thinking you will use the weak sounding Absynth, harsh digital FM8, cheap synth edit sounding Reaktor, and s...

Re: How would you use these controllers in live?

All you really need are a few pads and piano type keys. All of those are clutter, and Maschine is totally redundant with Live. You could probably get some sliders, keyboard and pads all in one unit, such as by AKAI and eliminate all that stuff.

Re: i can only hear my voice through one headphone?

Cuz your mic is mono bro, not stereo. Consequently in the track dropdown just below "Audio From" you must select 1 or 2, whichever your mic is coming in on.

Re: iPad

Remember, it is a cell phone operating system that lets you run crappy apps. For instance, I have both the Korg Polysix as a VST and I also have iPolysix app. THere is no comparison. The sound quality is horrible on the iPad in comparison. Same with my drum machine, I have the EMX and I also have th...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

I used to have a Maschine. It seemed pointless as it added nothing that I wasn't doing already with my nanopad and nanokontrol. Made no sense to keep it. Besides, with my own controllers I can map it any way I like. I have different mappings if I want to control a TR-909 or if I want to control a T...
