Some EQ are more transparent than others. So yea if you want transparent EQ, Ableton Live one is fine I guess. If you want to use an EQ with colour (SSL Waves EQ for example) use 3rd party. What exactly do the terms "transparent" and "colour" mean when referring to EQ? Always hear people saying it ...

What sort to return tracks do you guys like to setup? So far I have a return for drums, percussion, bass and reverb.
I am currently working on making a template atm. I usually just get an old project and delete everything, but I just want 1 solid template I can work from straight up.

Am I being thick, or wouldn't the easiest way be to set up a send FX channel and use this for all tracks you want to parallel process (not just for compression). What's the benefit of using individual FX chains? Obviously you can now use separate setting for each channel, but almost all parallel co...

So would the EQ8 be sufficient enough for me to split my frequencies into low, mid and high?
Say I put more points to make a steeper curve?
And what are peoples opinions on linear phase eq's? Just reading up on them now having only heard the term the other day :p

Is it possible for the Spectrum to keep a line of wherever the highest points are, then switch over and play something so that you can compare where they are both hitting?

I think you need to click "Back to arrangement" which I think will be red and to the right of "OVR" up the top. Hope that helps.

The others are right, no reason to cut highs by default. What is the best way to do parallel compression?
I have 2 return tracks. The first one has nothing on it and the second one has the compressor then I send my drums to both of those return tracks. Is this the right way to do it?
