Re: Question about packs

Do all the packs just stay in the Packs section? or are they distributed to their respective plugins? Reason Im asking is there is A LOT of packs and I never click on the pack section. Keep in mind that with Live 9 you have a "Category" and "Places" section. The latter represents physical locations...

Re: 9.5 shows I have packs to download are these new? Updated?

It does seem a bit weird. The new packs system in Live 9 definitely has its advantages, but the one thing I'm somewhat missing out on is that you can no longer see the version of a pack after it has been installed. So it has become a lot harder to determine if you're using the most up to date conten...

Re: Complex Problem

Well, beats does have a point. With software the main issue is often forward compatibility, and almost no program is. So in other words: an older version of Live can have issues with reading the data from a newer version. To my knowledge 9.5 has changed the data format a bit, and that most likely ex...

Re: M4L Essentials MIDI Monitor: always displaying channel 1?

That's weird. What is this device supposed to be used for then? Why even bother including it? This is why I hate the fact that Max devices don't always come with documentation/explanation. I spent probably an hour last night screwing around trying to figure out what was wrong with my setup/the devi...

Re: Complete Beginner - Need Help Getting Started

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but watch me no care. Instead of listening to everyone who tries to sell you their knowledge my advice would be to ignore all of that (no offense intended though). And I'm not saying so because of the commercial part. No: ignore everything at first....

Re: Poll: Bring back Auto-Assign Colors to pre-9.5 functionality

I have received the following response to my letter to Ableton support (quoted below). I haven't responded yet to their response. In the mean time, although i know this doesn't effect your work flow largely, a user has created a Max for Live device to regain the old functionality: http://www.maxfor...

Re: Missing Media Files - Help!

Not sure about the 'proper' way (the manual should tell you) but one thing which is important to keep in mind is the difference between the folder and the .als file. The folder is basically your project folder, so this is where Live still try to store related files if you use the 'Collect all and Sa...

Re: How to assign next / previous slot to a midi / keyboard ...

I'm not too sure I understand the question. In Session view the tracks are displayed vertically ("columns") but you can't trigger a whole "column" (as in whole track). Simply because you can only have 1 clip playing per track. So if you try to trigger the next "column" (so: clips to the left or righ...

Re: Creating a hardware controller

Perhaps another nice trick: use a bpatcher object to load in the several parts of your patch. This can make it easier to switch between sections while also making sure that the mapping retains / activates. So basically: make different patches for different parts and then load them in. Eventually fre...

Re: Help with Advanced MIDI Triggering

I'm not too sure but I think I understand your idea: a somewhat "dymamic" MIDI mapping. So one pad triggers a certain function but the moment another part of your material is playing then it should trigger something else? This should be doable, but not with vanilla Live. You'll need Max for Live to ...

Re: Classic Synths preset comes without Templates??

You can come close. If you can get the audio into Live you should be able to extract it to MIDI (harmony, melody or drums). It might not get you the full chords but you should come very close.

Re: Hotkey for dragging from session to arrangement not working?

Where did you read about that hotkey? I'm not familiar with it myself, but then again I also don't do much dragging. I am aware of control which turns off the snap, but that's about it. The other way around does somewhat work: if you have several clips in your arrangement and drag those into session...

Re: Sampler it,s broke with 9.5.Root note bad asigned.

I don't quite understand the issue. If you slice an audio file you'll end up with Simpler, not Sampler. The slice(s) will be spread out across a drumrack where the first pad sits on C1, so obviously that's the first note it'll respond to. That has been the case even back in Live 8. So I don't see wh...

Re: Simpler Sound Quality

Actually you're wrong; in my test setup the two fully cancel each other out. Whether I set the utility on the audio track or behind the Simpler. And I also think to know where you're going wrong: Simpler effects. You need to turn everything off, and also: Simpler will play the audio at -12dB by defa...
