Re: Live 9 Performance Test

Ok I have tracked it down, its the sends that seem to mess with my live cpu gauge. If I disable the 4 sends the live cpu gauge drops to 11% (real cpu 5%). If I then add another 4 normal tracks (which have the same two reverbs on them as the deleted AUX channels to simulate the load of the 4 deleted ...

Re: Live 9 Performance Test

Nope just tried it with soundtower, still 27 %

Doubling the track count to 16 tracks gives 31%.

So the next 8 tracks only add 4% cpu while the first 8 are 27%

Re: Live 9 Performance Test

I have been thinking, maybe the issue is with the audio interface (Fireface 800).

The FireFace driver overhead will be the same irrespective of how many tracks I am running.

So maybe I am getting a big hit there and thats skewing the figures.

Re: Live 9 Performance Test

Hi, I didn't say I was still experiencing a lot of crashes. I did say I was still getting crashes, however, I have not have a crash now for over a week. 9.0.4 seems to have helped. I have also been laying off running heaps of M4L plugs. I see other users using Macs still having some stability issue...

Re: Live 9 Performance Test

Wouldn't it be a good idea to list the CPU usage for live from the OSX Activity Monitor as well.

The live one seems pretty random to me, today I had 50% shown in Live while in Activity Monitor I basically had 10% of total CPU. Makes no sense to me!

Re: Push Knob Resolution (Feature Request)

It is the point.

As I said before I asked them this question and the only support is for that resolution, ask them yourself if you want.

Re: Push Knob Resolution (Feature Request)

I spoke to ableton about the resolution, they said it was fixed to 128 values like all other midi controllers are when used with Live.

So don't hold your breath!

Re: Thoughts on Push a few weeks on?

8 instances of Omnisphere, nothing playing

8 = 56%
9 = 84%

8 instances of Omnisphere playing

8 = 90%
9 = 140%

These tests are with 8 at 64 buffer and 9 at 256

Re: Thoughts on Push a few weeks on?

Here are the cpu figures for Live 9 and 8, no project even loaded at 64 buffer:

live 9, empty project, buffer size 64 - Cpu = 45%
live 8, empty project, buffer size 64 - Cpu = 13%

As you can see thats quite a difference!

Re: Thoughts on Push a few weeks on?

Are they on OSX?

9 is much worse for me.

8 I can run with a buffer size of 64, 9 glitches like mad at this setting.

Re: Thoughts on Push a few weeks on?

The whole of version 9 and push has been a joke, my push sits on the desk unused and I have gone back to using version 8. Don't want to start a bun fight here but I'm curious, why do you feel this way? I'm using mine every day and it's very stable and great fun to use. Well the number one reason is...
