it doesn't matter because both platforms are going to merge in the coming years.....I can't say how, but it's inevitable.....most likely machines will be able to run both, actually, with OSX86 you already can, and with MAC Intel machines I'm sure strange things will be happening!!!!!! it all adds up...

Go for a PC, they are faster than Macs. They are fine for playing live, I've seen PC's and Macs both crash while people were performing with them.....If you know how to manage your machine you should be fine. GET A TABLET!!!!!! That's all I can say. Any other machine is useless once you have a table...
