Do we have to go to the control panel every time we plug in or unplug our headphones?
Do we?

Oh yes, we do. We want every bit of control of what's playing where.

I'd never again want to be without an audio interface with extensive routing options.

Re: Cannot bend automation line

It's a label that comes on when you hover the mouse cursor over the automation line. It's not a switch. No doubt about the label. Tarekith is hinting at the type of parameter you're trying to automate. Take the Mixer parameters: Speaker On is a switch type, only knows on or off, while Track Volume ...

Is it an automation line for something that only had an on off control or some other kind of switch?
There's an "On" flag above the automation line and -point. I'd take that as a yes.

Re: Hard Pan is not Hard Pan?

What generation Scarlett have you got there? As far as I know the 2nd gen Focusrite Control software changed some of the workflow from the 2st gen Scarlett Mix Control. But both should allow you to set up several "Mixes" where you activate one or several output (pairs) per mix to get e.g. a 'control...

Re: Hard Pan is not Hard Pan?

Pan is not pan but balance. You may choose mono (external) inputs, but beyond that Live's mixer is stereo busses. several Utility plugins hard panned Now THERE they labeled it correctly as "Balance". But you don't want to use that to balance the full track; it's more useful in the middle of a device...

Re: How to hear solely the audio effect/reverb of a MIDI track

all the explanations use slang I don't understand yet I'm afraid we end up using all the same slang because we don't know any better. I've read up about rooting on the manual but it hasn't cleared things either. Good start, go on with the "Mixing" chapter, because there's the one easy solution I ca...

Re: Bowie Heroes EMS Synthi AKS Sound

Have you read CLASSIC TRACKS: David Bowie 'Heroes' ? Especialy the third paragraph of "Cracking the Combination". Viscont very much describes the basic recipe, even describing the effect as "chattering". Soniccouture's Synthi AKS pack on the other hand is basically a sampled, not a modelled instrume...

Re: Where Does Ableton Save Rack Preset Files?

[User Library]/Presets/[and then some] [and then some] depends, it may be the instrument name, if it's a single chain from an Ableton instrument, or the "Instrument Rack" folder, if you've got muliple chains or your instrument is a plug-in. When you're resaving a tweaked factory or partner preset, L...

Re: MP3 - Bad sound

Back with more questions, and - though using any internal soundcard (still assuming you do) is far from ideal, even if your application is not music production or performance - I'd like to get back to the sounds you're firing there. Are those sound effects or musical cues? Where are the mp3s from? -...

Re: MP3 - Bad sound

Are you using the APC Mini to fire clips from arrangement view or are those sounds loaded in a Simpler/Sampler inside a drum rack? I just take any sound/file/song from any folder and just drag/pull it into Ableton I think this is "arrangement view", but I'm not sure. Sorry, I misstyped here, I inte...

I'm form Bavaria/Germany. So German's your second language, English the third? [Sorry, I had to, greetings from Cologne] Now some serious questions: What system are you on (Mac vs. PC)? What is your audio device and - if on PC - which driver model are you using (Voreinstellungen > Audio > Treiber T...
