Re: 64 Bit Live: Worth getting 32GB RAM?

Getting a 64-bit beta client was huge for me, it meant I could actually use Live again. When you load up a few Play instruments, Trillian, and a couple of Kontakt libraries, it was *really* easy to go OOM before.

Re: Cubase 7....

I've seen that. It's a hack that I could do now (I've got Suite 8 + MFL), but I find it annoying and kludgy. It makes me sad to even discuss the topic, I don't want to believe they would ignore multimon in 9, but apparently they did.

Re: Cubase 7....

I'm curious about S1 as well. I don't use it, but am eventually going to have to replace my current mixer, and a 16.4.2 or 24.4.2 is a prime contender.

Re: Cubase 7....

Yeah, it's not the perfect solution either. Honestly, none of them are. I started out on the DOS version of Cakewalk, and have used Sonar, Cubase, Reason, Live and some of the early builds of Reaper. If I could choose the best features of all of them, I'd have my DAW :)

Re: Cubase 7....

I'm waiting to see the upgrade price. Initially, I'll have to choose between Live 9 and Cubase 7 upgrades, and am leaning toward Cubase. The two problems I have with Live are lack of 64-bit and lack of multi-monitor support. One is already solved in the 8.4.x beta, and apparently they aren't going t...

Re: Who here owns a modular?

If you can work a soldering iron (or are willing to learn how), you can build a badass modular for way less than retail. Check out Ray Wilson's http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/ as a good place to start. This is my in-progress build, most of it is MFOS. You should also check out the forums at Elec...

Re: dual monitor support damnit!!!!!

Sigh. My new 27" IPS monitor arrives today, giving me three. I'm baffled they couldn't manage to undock some damn windows for 9.

Re: 32 bit Plugins jBridge

Once I figured out that JBridge wasn't built into Live, everything went quickly

I created a 'jbridge' folder in my 64-bit VST directory, pointed JBridge to it as the destination, and everything worked great. Thanks!

Re: 32 bit Plugins jBridge

Can you explain what you did please? I'd like my 32-bit plugins to show up in the beta as well.

Thanks!

Re: Stolen macbook pro, reauthorizing all plugs?

NI is surprisingly easy to deal with about authorization stuff. I build a new system every year pretty much, and have never had a problem. I still hate them for abandoning Kore, though...

Re: 64 bit o/s

Until you get to the point where you need more memory, the 32-bit runs fine under Win7 64. It just all goes to hell (for me) when I load too many big instruments.

+1

And, since I haven't said it elsewhere, thanks guys for finally getting to 64-bit. I'm ready to ditch Cubase and return!
