Laptop CPU Upgrade (Banias to Dothan)

Hi all, How is everyone? My post is pretty much as the subject says. This is gonna be quite a long post, so apologies in advance! My compaq presario 1090AP has a 1.6ghz centrino (Banias), 1x1gb and 1x256mb pc3200 ram, and most importantly, the chipset is Intel 855PM (400mhz system bus). I plan on pu...

I haven't tried this, but could you not assign the effect enable buttons for the 3 effects to midi notes/keys on the keyboard, then create a translator in bome that outputs those keys from the single incoming midi note/cc?

Or are you wishing to do this strictly on the computer keyboard?

Re: Hard Drives

I have a G4 15" Powerbook, 1.5gHz with 80GB 5400rpm HDD, 1.5gb RAM running Live 5.0.2 My question is that I also have an external 7200rpm 250GB Western Digital Fire Wire HDD. I'm wondering if when running multiple samples will this give me any better performance? It's hard for me to judge although ...

You could use it as an insert perhaps? (Insert the effect on the track/tracks in question) I'm assuming that you're using it as a send at the moment, hence you're getting the original track combined with the flange fx return (which you have as a send) -edit- Assign a midi control to enable the flang...

I guess it's fixed with live 5 then. I think it had to do with the way ableton followed the clock (update intervals?) Not sure as I haven't tried it with 5 yet.

I just checked in Live 4.1.4 again and it's glaringly obvious.

Hi engineroom, I too have a mc307 that I have tried using as the midi clock master, with live slaving to it. The turntable emulation and nudge buttons work great, however, does anybody find that the sound coming out of ableton is altered somehow? i.e. my pitch-bended, not warped, tracks, sound almos...

Sqook, is the only difference between an 'ordinary' drive and a 'mobile' the casing? Is it just the 'box' that's giving this extra protection you're looking for when you want to go mobile? I'll just add that if you do decide to go with a 3.5" drive, as they are considerably cheaper, you are no doub...

I totally agree with ya sqook. Derksen, have a quick read of a post I just made, http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30029 Better performance will be achieved with less of a bottleneck, matched to a drive's speed rating. and yes, 2.5" laptop hard-drive mechanics are generally designed to wi...

Yahoo, my first post, finally! I'm not familiar with the M-Audio audiophile drivers, but I just thought I should mention that on my Motu's Cuemix Console program, there is an option where you choose what mix gets routed to the headphones. If, for example, "Phones" is set up to "Follow Active Mix", e...
