rtopia,

Fill me in on your lap steel experience with Live. Do you have any clips or a site I could visit?

Thanks everyone. I figured it could be done no problem. I just wanted to hear if there was any "can be done, but sounds like @#$%" comments.

The gate sending to effects based on attack volume sounds intriguing. Any online tutorials out there dealing with that specifically?

By the way, I am talking about real-time playing, not using any loops at all. It doesn't need to record, simply take in a signal, alter it, and output it.

I've been using it for about 8 months now and have never had a problem. I havne't compared it to the competition but I am perfectly satisfied with it's sound and performance.

The patchmix was a bit confusing.

Can LIVE be used as an effects processor for my guitar?

I play lap steel in a Friends of Dean Martinez fashion, meaning with lots of experimental noise mixed in the music. I own Live for recording with my EMU 1616m. I'm wondering what the best way to run my signal through Live for it's unique effects would be. I'm thinking Line 6 Pod XT to EMU to Live an...

Unfortunately you can't keep things in 'true' stereo if your using a mono signal. You can fiddle with it, tweak it spreading the mono signal out with short delays etc. but if you want 'true' stereo your gonna hav'ta use two tracks. So, two mics recording to one stereo track isn't true stereo? I'm n...

Stinky, I am just trying to figure out the best method of getting the full sound of stereo micing in a mono track. Bouncing the tracks is the first thing I thought of, but I thought there may be a better method out there than recording and bouncing. This seems a bit tedious when recording quick idea...

Converting stereo track to mono without losing stereo sound

I have a guitar miced with a matched pair, I like the outcome. However, i want to be able to pan the entire sound, without losing one of the mics. Make sense? What is the best method for getting the entire stereo field condensed to a mono track for panning? I am new to recording in general, so if i ...

Drumon, I play a variety of styles and am feeling the urge to create a fusion by combining them. My primary instrument is flamenco guitar, but I also play other styles of guitar, like flatpicking(bluegrass, old-timey, alternate tunings), steel guitar, and surf/rockabilly type stuff. I am learning th...

Ok, I spent several hours with Live last night and ending up buying it. I've only used Cubase and Sonar and I like this much better. Much of what I am paying for, I won't even use.....like anything midi, warping, instruments, crazy-ass effects(as cool as they are, I can't see beat repeat(whatever it...

I feel like an idiot. Maybe i was just tired yesterday. I clicked and activated warp markers instead of moving the yellow "1" and setting the loop length. Today, I tried again and it instantly made sense. Yesterday, I was looking in the documentation instead of simply clicking and dragging that firs...

nubelae, You are right, that image wasn't exactly right. Your description of isolating an interior cycle IS what I have been talking about. However, if the markers were moved to the 4 and 6, part of the note on 4 would be at 3.95 and part of the note on 6 would be at 6.1, creating a hiccup. At leas...

CloudyJim, With all due respect, weren't you just complaining about the limitations of Live Lite demo a few days back and now it turns out you haven't even USED (or at least used it the way it was intended...) the program yet? It's just a bit, well, you know, kinda like, annoying. Just to be helpfu...

nebulae, I don't have Live in front of me right now, but what you described is how I did it last night. After I moved the loop markers, I let the loop sit there and repeat. There's a hiccup when the end maker is hit. At first, I thought that I should just record again and be more conscious of my tim...
