Thanks, I know about vengeance actually.

I'd prefer to have sounds that are not from sample CD's. I was hoping I could stumble across something more exclusive like the Steve Helstrip ones I mentioned.

Can anyone hook me up with their favorite trance samples?

I was wondering if someone on here who produces trance could hook me up with or point me in the direction of some trance drum samples that have worked in previous releases? Half the battle of getting a good track is having appropriate samples to begin with, and I'm not exactly happy with a majority ...

Re: share your kick drum methods/tips

No you don't need one. Not saying it's better, I just think it would be more fun. I don't find making a kick with software that exciting, and it could get really time consuming. Plus there are things out there like the Mbase11 which are made for that one purpose, I've heard a lot of good things abou...

Re: share your kick drum methods/tips

Making a kick from scratch is a waste of time imo (unless you have an analog synth). Layering is easier if you want to change how a kick sounds, but making it from scratch is something you should leave to the people who specialize in making sample libraries. Nevertheless getting just a few really go...

Re: Advice on my drum loop please?

Thanks for the feedback.

Is there anyway I can give it some more flow and pace? I think it feels kind of rigid and lifeless, anyone else think I should get rid of the congas/bongos? I'd appreciate some suggestions about what doesn't fit in or what's missing.

Not a stereo imager plugin, but here's a way of doing it with live's devices: http://emusictips.com/2008/08/pro-mixin ... as-effect/.

Re: Advice on my drum loop please?

Genre: That would be House. That was my intention, I just wasn't sure what sub-genre it was. Tech house? Anything I could do to improve it? I heard it so many times already that I wouldn't know if something was wrong with it :(. I realize it's pretty generic, but I'm making this for someone else.

Re: How do i make a sond drift into infinity?

The only things I can think of to make a song sound like it's getting further away is to ramp up the reverb level/decay on everything, increase the release/attack on synths and lower the volume gradually. High frequencies travel a shorter distance than lows, so you can also gradually lower the highs.

Advice on my drum loop please?

Hi, Can anyone please offer me some improvement suggestions and advice for this drum loop I've made? I feel like it's missing something (apart from a lack of reverb and delay). Also, what genre would it fall into? http://soundcloud.com/dr-fluffenstein/house-drum-loop-127-bpm-2 Thanks, I appreciate y...

Re: Using sample snippets for bass?

What I meant was that there was an additional frequency peak below the fundamental if I used 2 cycles instead of 1, and if I use 3 cycles a second one appears, the more cycles I use the more peaks appear below the fundamental. I could highpass it, but it wouldn't get rid it completely since the peak...

Re: Using sample snippets for bass?

Thanks for the tips guys. The golden rule is out of the question, it's just that I was concerned about the sound engineering details, like those unexplained sub-harmonics that came out of nowhere (they aren't audible, but they can screw up the mix). Another big difference I was sort of worried about...
