Re: petition: tighten move playing position in M4L
i worry that we are confounding two slightly separate issues here. The 'jump to zero' problem is one thing, but to me the larger issue is the inconsistent response to the move_playing_position call. It needs to be able to reference a specific clip location, rather than a relative 'move x beats' resp...

+1
I really want to be able to reliably jump around within clips, rather than have to mess with a buffer. Please fix!

Re: How's Windows 7 these days?...Thinking of switching from OSX
At work ive been running windows 7 full tilt for a couple months now, on an 27" imac. It's been top-notch. No troubles whatsoever. Windows 7 is stable and quick, and we priced it out: the 27" imac is the best deal on the market we could find for a windows box i7 processor and a quality mon...

Re: Finger Remix of Two Fingers
naw, man, its groovy. I find it hard to resist cutting up his wonderfully thick work. My band mates have put a moratorium on tobin samples, simply because theyre so awesome that it feels like we aren't trying hard enough by using his textures. As to those out there who are allergic to pop music, wel...

Re: It's Official: Live + Serato on January 14, 2010
all that needs to happen is for live to implement a way of assigning particular tracks to different tempo and timing signature. This would allow an overall master tempo, while allowing individual tracks to receive their own timing signature from, say, a dvi record. Play a live set, all your beats ar...

Re: Warping mp3 vs. wav files
it's absolutely not a problem. Live reads the .asd file associated with the mp3, and writes a .wav version of the track to the decoding cache. As long as you move the mp3 with the associated .asd file, live will decode and warp the track correctly (i assume that you've warped and saved the file prop...

Re: help with chord progressions
all interesting reading guys, thanks for the discussion. Here's a preset i whipped up a few years ago, to gets my instruments in tune with the tracks i dj. Its scaled to C major, so it would let one use the white keys of a standard midi controller. The first part of the rack swaps between major and ...

Re: Is this how most of you use EQ when DJing w/ Live?
Ive tried to make my live template as flexible as possible, so i use a return channel approach too, with only minimal eq controls on each individual track (generally just a midi controlled gate and a stereo/mono utility chain). Tracks can either feed directly into the submix return channel (some gen...

Re: How can i connect two m-audio x-session pro?
well, there may be issues with each device having the same name, but ive been using the xsession pro and the original xsession in tandem without issues for years now. The enigma software lets you reconfigure the cc and note values without too much fuss (as i recall, i had to download a specific vers...

ive been putting together a few tracks for the record production month challenge, and got into the beta in time to put the polish to this track, a little number cut together from a Mario Savio protest rally speech from the sixties. Ues some corpus on the bass, and a bit of noise vocoder on the voice...

@buckman well, a right click will let you 'set 1.1.1 here', which will place the 1 wherever you like. The same menu will also let you 'warp from here (straight)' which is also very useful when warping. But i would suggest you warp the loop normally, and then simply move the start point independently...
