Re: Total Newbie to production....Where to get started?
thats a good shout turning off the timing on the timeline, a lot of burial stuff is offbeat with almost jazz/blues timings rather than more 'computer structured' sounding stuff.

Re: Lemur is here
Sibanger, Yes I use Griid, Touchable, TouchOSC and MidiTouch. I'm hoping that Lemur might be able to replace all of the above for gig performances mainly. As I can still see myself using TouchAble (and griid for the step sequencer) still in the studio. I'd be using Lemur to create custom controllers...

Re: Lemur is here
does lemur only run with Max for Live?
Or is it only some of the templates?
http://liine.net/en/community/user-library/view/111/
The ableton full control one seems to suggest you need Max for Live.

Re: Lemur is here
wow, just wow! the rumours that have been going about are true. I look forward to trying this! Its awesome theyve got pre-made templates too, especially full control of ableton and including broken down elements too. Means I can create a template per song and have unique controls for each - i.e some...

Re: Production Help: Snare issues
it sounds like some of the cymbal and snare frequencies must be similar so are loudening that part of the frequency.
use a spectrum analyser to see where both the sounds sit within frequency range then cut accordingly so that both dont clash

Re: SSDs FTW!
I love my new laptop with ssd. Ableton Live feels so much more stable on it and works lightning fast.
I got one because I kept having normal hard drives feck-up on me and losing loads of work. Some of these drives were maybe only 1-2 years old. an ssd will last wayyyy beyond that.

Re: Novation Launchpad (+may be Nocturn) or APC 40 for a newbee
If portability is an issue then bear in mind an APC is a hefty bit of kit whereas a launchpad (or two) and nocturn will fit with your laptop in a standard laptop bag comfortably. 2xLaunchpads will give you 16x8 grid instead of the 8x5 grid of APC40 Personally I had two launchpads and preferred it ov...

Re: just picked up octatrack and tempest
wow, someone win the lottery?
or an early christmas present to yourself?
VERY jealous!
Even though I've honed my setup down to minimal and computer based after having lots of hardware, i'd still love either of these. I'm sure I could find a place for it in my life.

Re: New Controller App *ANNOUNCED TOMORROW*
Interesting that the CDM article mentions Plastikman at the end as he's worked with Liine for the Kapture Pad app.
I hope it's MORE than Lemur just being released for iPad.
And if it is, then I hope they've built on it. Think about it, Lemur is really an old techonology/idea/interface now.

Re: New Controller App *ANNOUNCED TOMORROW*
UNDER A WEEK UNTIL THIS IS ANNOUNCED http://liine.net/en/ With Liine's apps (especially Kapture Pad) being shit hot and genius, this new app could be a gamechanger! Something that kicks TouchAble & Griid's ass. Something that might integrate the iPad more with Ableton and improve the workflow to...

PLUS you can see the names of the Clips too which I think is a MASSIVE help rather than using a Launchpad or APC.jestermgee wrote:This is my opinion but I do like the iPad for clip launching because you can see what the clips are easily
Just one of the MANY reasons though that I think it's so much better

Grooverb
I hope you enjoy your new keyboard!
Yeah the ipad isnt a necessity to start off with. Essentially apps like TouchAble just do what you can do already in Ableton and it's a controller.
Rabouille,
You TouchAble guys rock! TouchAble mixed with Hardware Controllers! I nearly soiled myself!
