Something to make all of you sound designers think
Hey guys, I'm working on a recording project. In this piece, I want to create from scratch the way that it would sound from a first person perspective if you were walking into a noisy dance club from an alleyway. I already have the music down, I have samples of footsteps, and a door opening, and som...

How do you apply YOUR reverbs?
Hey, I'm working on a track where several of the instruments are completely electronic or direct in, or mic'd very close in a small place. In other words, I need to apply a fair amount of reverb to these tracks to get things sounding more natural. my question is this: is it better to give each instr...

Performing live with a drummer
Me and my brother are trying to get some shows together, he is a drummer with a good sense of timing but I am a little weary when it comes to working out the logistics, but I'm sure that some of you in the live community have had some luck. here is our set up: Drums (obviously) Me on guitar (looping...

Re: For bouncing to tape, will ANY playe do?
interesting, I never though to get a reel to reel. And yes, although downgraded sound quality is the end goal, it has to be in the right ways (keeping in tact dynamics, etc. ). a sound I'm looking for is close to flying lotus's gritty textures, they are almost rubbing against your face when you list...

Re: For recording drums, USB or Firewire?
Damn, that things pricey. good to hear though, I understand that the upside of firewire is that it keeps your latencys low and helps out with the CPU load, but I wont be using this for performances. I think i'll save a few dimes and go for the one I linked

Re: Another USB Vs Firewire ?
Hey, I need to do some multitrack recording, meaning that I need multiple xlr inputs for drums (at least 6). I already have a firewire interface , but it has only 2 inputs so I need another. I am wondering if firewire is worth the extra money for my needs. ALL I need this for is recording drums; so...

External instrument sending MIDI, but receiving no audio
Hey everybody, heres the issue I'm having. I use lives "external instrument" to send MIDI to reason, and to receive audio. it usually works fine, but now I am receiving no audio back from reason. MIDI is being sent, because I can tell by the levels in reason that it is reaching the chain, ...

Re: Anyone have expierience with User Config MIDI script?
thanks for the replies I checked my folder path and it is as you mentioned; would it create any problems if I created copied the app data folder into my user folder? As I mentioned, I could not actually find the app data folder in my C drive without typing in %appdata% into my search menu. strangely...

For bouncing to tape, will ANY playe do?
I'm trying to thicken up my digital synth and other sounds by bouncing the track to tape and back. I've heard this technique being used and I like the results, but before I go for it I have to ask a silly question (i was born in the CD era). Will any tape player do? I notice that many of them have 1...
