Thanks Noel, that was my understanding. So, the benefits gained by recording at 24 bit is not offset by the dithering process in Itunes? Would I be better off with a dedicated mastering program? I have had pretty good results with Itunes, but have nothing to compare it by......Your thoughts apprecia...

16bit vs. 24bit?

Hello, I have a recording session (a paying gig!) and I would like to give them the best quality possible. I don't have a dedicated dithering program ( nor am I sure of even what it entails). I will be rendering the aiff file (I'm on a mac), and burning in I tunes.. Would I be better off just record...

Compressive CM

Has anyone checked out the compressive cm sidechain comp yet? I've just installed it on live 5, but if I'm able to get the side chaining part of it functioning, as I have never used such a beast. I believe I would be looking for an audio source that the comp keys off of. I'm not seeing any routing o...

I've got my eye on it too. I have heard and hope that I misunderstood, that you have to use it's software, CAPTURE, to record into.. That may be a deal breaker for me....Can't wait till it is released............Rand

Still haven't had the chance to try it out yet,(stupid work) but I like the sound of editing the time line which would also edit deactivated clips. For example after editing the dead spaces between tom hits, I could still go back and reactivate the files to make further edits, etc. Live 5 has "...

I haven't had a chance to get back and try this. But live 5 doesn't have a collect and save.. I just have a .als and the sounds folder. I need to mess with this more. I guess I was just looking for the super slick, very quick explanation. I record live acts often, and when you start getting upward o...

live 5 file management

Hello all, I am recording drums w/ 8 channels. I would like to bounce down to 2 tracks while still being able to access my original tracks. The reason for bouncing is to free up cpu. So, any thoughts on this? I am thinking I would have to pull the original tracks out and store them in a folder? Than...

I have the older bx5's, and they are the only thing I would suggest by m-audio. I also have the ozonic, which was alright when I was using it (although when bus powered, it popped and clicked), but feels kinda flimsy and the enigma software blows.....................

+1 on the looper. I initially bought into computer recording after reading about live 5. So I bought me my first computer, and my first software, and expected to be able to do what I had been doing on my jamman for 10 years, but it really just wasn't there. The first loop setting the tempo is essent...

I personally had a tough time w/ the enigma software on my Ozonic. But you can go the route of using midi mapping. top right corner of live, press the midi button and areas of the screen will turn blue. now click on track fader one, for instance, and move the corresponding fader on the uc-33. do thi...

The only option I'm seeing in preferences > plug-ins is plug in buffer size. And the options for different plug in folders. Under the "Audio" tab, there is only the buffer settings, nowhere do I see any plug in delay compensation. I'm going to have to try and sort this out tomorrow when I'...
