Thanks Angstrom, that one lacks a bit detail in its curves, but demonstrates why I don't want no carpet in here. Carpets eat mid to high frequencies and make the room sound dull and boom as long as you don't get your bass frequencies down.

leedsquietman wrote:Timur is right about the plugin buffer thing too. i wasn't so sure about that at first, but after trying it for myself, it does have an impact.
Hey Leeds, what kind of impact do you mean? Latency and CPU load are expected, but did you also notice the timing problems/difference?

According to Modecalc there is a resonance lapover of my the audio-room's length and the distance to the living-room wall trough the breakthrough at 114 Hz, but not 118/119 Hz. This is an old building and the walls are not very straight. So possibly they get closer to each other towards the ceiling ...

Plugin Buffers work just like Audio Buffers and will increase your latency in addition to what Audio Buffers already do. So setting is to the default "As Audio Buffers" will exactly double your latencies as soon as you use external Plugins/VSTs. Unfortunately my own experience also shows t...

Thanks Khazul, I already downloaded that yesterday. ;) The lengths I was calculating with are for a full wavelength as can be calculated here: http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-wavelength.htm The Modecalc turorial says: Twice the dimension is used because a room 10 feet long really has a total...

I think the Emu 404 settings were responsible for the pops and clicks whilst using live. The setting in the Emu control panel was showing to be running at 10ms..It's clear now that i cannot run Live 7 with the Emu 404 at 10ms however when i set it to 20ms all problems disappeared and the problems of...

Nope, I played a round of Civilization 4 and lost. :) I measured the room again and found an error in my first measurement of the width. It's roughly 4.55 x 3.55 x 2.79 m. The 4.55 m corresponds to the 75 Hz resonance. That one is easy, hopefully I can tame it with some corner trappings. Ther...

I think people usually go with 'standing waves' and 'interference patterns', comb filters are a process, not a result, IMO. So let's say: There is comb filtering happening ?! ;) at low frequencies the spaces between peaks (lots of sand) and troughs (no sand) is large, at high frequencies it's small...

how can you tell it's comb filtering? ;)
Just an uneducated guess, but another guess is that I'm also fighting some standing waves here, cause there's all that fluttering sounds happening when moving my head around.

Move your speakers around the cabinet then. :P Doesn't help, because the corner behind the cabinet is still reflecting gallore! ;) And don't ask me to put the cabinet into the corner, you don't put century old cabinets into your appartment to hide them into a corner behind the door. It need some ro...

Don't worry too much about the antivirus and high number of running processes. As long as the antivirus isn't scanning your drives it shouldn't get you into troubles (although you can never know with non corporate Symantec products). In order to find out if your processes are the reason for the bad ...

nice colors, timur, you very very gay man you! rock on! Hehe, hey, it wasn't me who wanted to have half of the kitchen walls in pink while the rest was red. I can tell you it was very difficult to find a combination of pink and red that did not look like candy paper (and left me painting ...

Thanks for all answers so far. I found out that the 74/75 Hz resonance is reflections from the left side corners. The reason why the right speaker/corners don't reflect these is most likely because: a) there's a heavy metal (no pun intended) CD shelf standing in the front right corner b) the front r...

We are talking Windows XP right?

Try turning off all Audio/Midi Inputs on the playing tracks (or simply via preferences for a quick look) and also try to disable Multiprocessor Support.
