Re: New progressive Techno work in progress. Love some feedback.

nice start, definitely needs more movement though. think of where you want the focus to be to present the moment in the track, and then think about gradual automation of vol, eq, efx (chorus, whatever) that can help you move that focus. and i agree with walking machine, the percussion needs somethin...

Re: Fuck After I listened to this I didn't even want to make bea

agreed, ableton browser is not ideal. but putting a rack of samples with a macro mapped to select (distribute evenly) speeds this up substantially.

Re: Women's Curling: disturbing, yet strangely erotic...

so i had to google WTF curling was.. that's a sport? the swedish team must be hot for you to keep watching.. i think i can be one of the sweepers in front of the disc.. how hard can that be? it's a game of finesse and strategy. the effects of the ice changes the movement of the stones, and you have...

Re: OK, You are a billionaire ... so what now?

i'm guessing a studio upgrade would be on everyone's list, but i'm glad mikemc mentioned having off-grid/sustainable housing. that's always been a life goal. so thanks for the prompting angstrom, i'm gonna be thinking more about how to make it happen at the same time as career building. in terms of ...

Re: they are all the same... or are they?

The fact that people sometimes use terms like 'electro' (which refers to a specific style and is nothing to do with Boyz Noise etc), and 'techno' (which is a genre) to refer to all dance music is kinda annoying though... +1!!! I like to tease locals billing themselves as spinning electro by asking ...

Re: they are all the same... or are they?

between wikipedia entries of sub genres, sytles, etc and the genrefication and tagging happening in abundance at last.fm, there seems to be emerging more of a standard etymology for the subtle shades of music. i've wanted to write a paper on the evolution of electronic music for a while.... (since m...

Re: Dj Question

it's nice to have CDs as a backup. even when you're not spinning "hey, did you bring some records?" yoink!

a friend of mine has a good system:
groups everything by key and approximate bpm, burns two copies. labels are coloured by key
a bit OCD but saves him time.

Re: Tea

There's something about tea that can keep you from crashing in a way coffee cannot. Especially green tea, I can drink that strong (sometimes cold with a dash of lime) all night and stay sharp, moreso than energy drinks (*vibrates*). I'm a bit of a tea snob, so I won't talk about my favs, but some su...
