Since Recycle 2.0 you can make stereo files in rex2 format. You must been using an older version (or reading old comments) :)

I always thought Live was a great sketchbook and Cubase was better for mixing. But I've just made 2 of my best mixes ever in Live 6.

And BTW I just upgraded from Cubase VST5 to Cubase4 and I will upgrade to live 7 (Thanx to the money I made with these two mixes I mentioned above) :

As far as I know, Ableton doesn't support sysex (yet). So you can't save hardware sounds in midi files inside Ableton. What you can do is select a bank, subbank and a program (preset) within the clip info box. So you can choose different sounds during your song or set. It works for my Virus Classic....
so will I be able to use my MEK as part of a rack?
I'm not an beta tester, but I expect something like external vst-instruments in Cubase4. You have to have a seperate (stereo) input for each synth. I hope there will be a patchscript like in Cubase, so choosing...

Re: What is your elected sampler
I was wondering what your elected sampler is and why. I am trying to get a little more sampler savy, and really want to get a betterknowledge of whats out there and their strengths and weaknesses.
I own Halion, Emulator X2 and a hardware Yamaha A3000v2. Halion is ...

It was 1976: House of the Rising Sun (The Animals) on an acoustic guitar with steel snares. Got my fingers bleeding (I don't count the riff of Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water).

Yes,

I've got an Yamaha A3000. Some years ago I've sold all hardware and I do regret. I'm buying it back now.

Software samplers are so much easier and faster to work with. They sound good to.

But it's true: hardware samplers have a certain old skool sound.

Well, if it sounds good, it sounds good. Why bother? From a legal point of view using sample cd's is a lot safer too. As a musician I come from a background where sampling is not done. But I don't care. Give ten people the same samples and you've got ten different songs. The best songs are made by p...

I've worked with Cubase since the Atari days, but found timestretching inconvenient. When Live 4 came with midi I switched. The midi wasn't like Cubase, but Live fastened my workflow. I really produced 3x more songs in a year. At this moment I compose in Live and play live with Cubase. Live isn't st...
you could set up your own monitoring system for your drummer and still be able to send a stereo pair to the main system. just got to fork out a few bucks for a set of monitors for your drummer.
Good advice, funny I've never thought about it. :)

Thanx

Well, that's the way I work live: stereo outputs for beatloops, synths, vocals and mono for kick and bass. Because we also work with live musicians, not all sound engineers get it. Quite frustrating on festivals if you don't have a soundcheck. Because of that, there's a lot to say for 'just one ster...

Well, it's the software I already own:

Ableton Live
Halion
VStation
ReCycle

Would upgrade Cubase VST5.1 to SE3
Would upgrade CoolEdit 2000 to Audobe Audition (maybe Soundforge)

Probably not:
Zero-X Beat Creator (ReCycle can do it)
FL Studio Express (don't use)
Acid (Ableton can stretch)
