Re: drums help in live 8
When you're using drum racks, choose the top pad you have a sample on - open the Simpler associated with that pad and turn the velocity up to around 60 - 70%. The right click and choose "copy value to siblings". Better yet, search the forum on how to save this Simpler as a default. Adding ...

Re: Do you like Reaktor? Is it worth spending the time to learn?
I like having Reaktor just to sample cool patches into Sampler. Then I never have to deal with hundreds of different UI's, etc. which can keep you away from getting work done.

I still consider dubstep to be Loefah and Mala, not Skrillex, and I still like it. Brostep can go away now please.

Re: What's your favorite dirt VST for drums?
what I would give to be able to use Scream as a VST.... Sausage Fattener is quite nice as well. This is one area where Logic is great....Bitcrush, Overdrive (awesome), Tape Delay (set no delay and open the extended parameters...tweak the "drive" setting), Compressor "FET Live" pa...

Re: Mainstage with Ableton - First Thoughts
Turn your velocity up in the drum rack to about 70 on all pads. Now it sounds the same as UB.I played some drums on the Ultrabeat and also the drum rack. There is no comparison.

I agree its kind of a brilliant approach....especially saving all the hassle and waste of printed manuals and shipping DVD's around.

Was kind of wondering this myself. Seems like the old "you download it I sell you my serial" doesn't apply or does it?Can you resell an app from the app store?

That is pretty amazing. I'm still not clear - do you have to get Mainstage to get the content?

Re: Recognizing Live in a song
It's when you hear the easiest and cheesiest thing to do, that's when it's disappointing. I've been really into the music of Robot Koch lately....who uses Live 100% btw....and produces beautiful dark beats music. But then his latest single goes all WUB WUB WUB WUBWUBWUBWUB BLLLAAAAAAAAHH BLLLLLLLLL...

The timestretch in Reason/Record is incredible. Not as flexible as Live (it doesn't do warp markets, etc.) but it sounds pretty flawless IMO.

Re: A Question on producing beats
lotsa threads on this topic already... Simpler's default state is -12db, 0 velocity, and somewhat short release. This can be changed and saved as a new default. I've found that just bringing velocity up to 70 or so and it sounds bigger again. Sampler is also as -12db. For dragging one shots to an au...

Re: What feature in live 9 would be a game changer for you
What I'm hoping for is an upgrade to drum racks and a new Akai drum rack controller that makes Ableton the sampling powerhouse it could be. Its so close right now but hardware + a new drum rack with slice auditioning would pretty much take out the need to learn another workflow with Maschine IMO.

Re: Me Versus DJ Shadow (Yup, Seriously!)
Good taste. Andy of Lamb is such a monster drum programmer (and huge Ableton fan BTW).These inspirations include DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Zero 7, Thievery Corporation, Lamb and even a bit of Mad Professor in there.

Re: Live Packs..Worth it?
Puremagnetic stuff does not sound very good to me. Nothing personal... Kind of feel the same way. GoldBaby is really great quality but has not as yet released Live Packs....I have a few of his instruments for Logic and they are ace. Importing the EXS's into Sampler doesn't work that great. I wish h...
