It makes me not want to use the step sequencer because I have to hit the pads so hard to register notes, and I have the same issue you mentioned with two notes at a time. A simpler option might be to have two channels next to each other using the different scales.

I'm not at home now so can't check, but I believe the scale mode is remembered per-channel.

You could even have the MIDI output from both channels going to a single instrument channel.

I would actually think that the problem is more likely between your grid and the Arduino, and you should be checking what data is actually being sent. "Fixing" the MIDI interface by shoehorning some MIDI HID code in would probably be quite a bit of work and likely wouldn't solve the real p...
