Re: Automating Drum Rack Macros
I just discovered that! Is there a way to set a default "0" setting in the middle of the knob so that placing the knob at 64 would read "0" and be centered so I could double click the knob and it would always return to "0?"

Automating Drum Rack Macros
I've got a drum rack with 3 chains. I can automate the chains but I'd like to automate the 3 main drum rack macros. I can automate one macro with an envelope clip but don't know if it's possible to use multiple envelope clips on the same clip. I haven't figured out how use anything else for this aut...

Unintended Side-Chaining
Not sure if this is the correct term for my problem. I have one track with mixed voices and another with a very low intermittent floor tom. The floor tom has a nice crack to it. When the voices come in, the crack is muted as well as the volume of the tom. If I put eq or compression on the tom to mak...

Re: Help with CD Burning
My mistake was to export in 32 bit. imgBurn would not make a CUE file and gave a lot of errors but iTunes burned the disk. Perhaps, that's why it came out sounding so bad. I re-exported in 16 bit, burned it with imgBurn and it sounds perfectly acceptable, perhaps, a little light on the volume but I ...

Help with CD Burning
My piece is 95% finished. I need to send it to a friend for evaluation for commercial use. Initially, I exported the music to a WAV file. Played the WAV and it sound OK, not great. Then I burned it to disk using Media Player. Didn't sound too good but good enough for a rough eval. Unfortunately, my ...

Out of Sync with Metronome
My music doesn't sync up with the metronome when it's in arrangement view but it's OK in session view. The problem is I'm trying to fix a 4 bar piece and can't get it to sync properly. There's a red dot in the upper left corner of the tempo indicator. I'm hoping this is an obvious problem and can be...

Re: Most Comfortable Headphones
I don't wear glasses, nor do I have overly large ears. Mostly, my use is for composition and editing. For mixing, I'll use my JBLs. I appreciate all the opinions as I don't have anywhere to try out phones.

Most Comfortable Headphones
I've got a pair of ATH M50s. They sound great but after a while they make my lobes hurt. I searched this forum and didn't find all that much on ear comfort. If anything, a lot of raves for the M50s. So, any recommendations for a pair that will hold me thru an 8 hour editing session? Thanks, bobland

Sample Search and Replace?
I have a particular sample of a floor tom spread out in my composition. I've decided that it needs to be replaced or edited. Is there a way to do a search/find and replace like in a word processor? I hate to dig into 300+ samples on 40 tracks to find these little devils.

Importing aif files into iTunes
I'm trying to convert some Ableton format aif files into iTunes for conversion to wav. I have a few Tom Cosm aifs that iTunes will read and convert but can't get it to read any other aifs. Is there some trick to this? I have about 300 files to convert so keeping the name is critical. I'm on Windows ...

Re: What is Mackie Control?
My needs are minimal. As I have a Saffire 8i6, I don't need other ins/outs. Most of the Mackies I've seen have a lot of hard ins/outs which I assume add to the cost. Are there mixers that offer 8 sliders (or knobs) without the jacks? Thanks for you input. It helps a lot and I think I'm getting the i...

Re: What is Mackie Control?
I think my confusion is related to software, when people refer to a product as having Mackie Control. Does this imply that you must use Mackie made hardware or can any hardware mixer imply this protocol, like the BFC/BFR 2000 series?

Moving a Live project to Cubase
I'm going to pickup Cubase 7 next week. I have a large project in Live that I'd like to move into Cubase. The project has 37 tracks with about 600 samples. The project was saved with collect and save so all the samples are in one folder but scattered around in multiple sub folders. Suggestions are g...

Re: YOUNG PERSON SEEKING ADVICE
Go into a dark room, close your eyes and let your thoughts decide, not us. Write down a list of pros and cons for each choice. Post all choices on a sheet of paper and throw a dart at it. Make a deck of cards with each choice. Shuffle the deck and let the first card be your choice. Don't like that c...
