Re: The Great BitWig Migration
Enlighten us ... Who are these magical companions of yours? I don't understand this comment. You don't offer anything except an attempt at being funny. I'm actually asking for an opinion because maybe I'm missing something. Maybe yes or no is easier? Layered editing : Ableton doesn't have...

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
why are we even discussing this, didn't you hear the man? bitwig is OBJECTIVELY better than Live, and that is not an opinion. no room for discussion, then... let's all move along and leave Hec to his masturbatory certainty. Certain features are objectively better on both ends. The ones I mentioned ...

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
I'm not justifying my move. I have all the major DAWs, I appreciate good features and I go where the best workflow lies. The truth is you can make great music with all of them. Ableton however has been my home but there has been a neglect by the development team I'm some crucial areas. I'm just glad...

Re: The Great BitWig Migration
right now BitWig is doing everything Ableton does and much better. No other DAW has something like M4L, which IMO is the most revolutionary thing they've done since the session view. Bitwig claim that Studio will have a modular environment, but not on version 1. So no, not everything. P.S. Retorts ...

The Great BitWig Migration
Well folks, it looks like the time is almost here. Despite my grips with Ableton's neglect for some DAW fundamentals I've stuck with it because it truly has been the best, most inspiring DAW to work with. However, with BitWig that's about to change. Not only did the former Ableton employees take ins...

Re: Please Improve the Waveform Graphics in Entire Program
(He's disagreeing, not trolling. People are allowed to be contrary, ya know 8) ) But I agree with you: the inaccurate representation of waveforms is counterproductive and unhelpful, and Abes need to fix it. Disagreeing would make sense if this was 1999 and Waveforms had a significant impact on how ...

Waveforms don't make for a CPU hungry DAW.pencilrocket wrote:CPU hungy DAW? No thanks.
Pro Tools 11 is more efficient than Ableton and it makes no compromises with Waveforms. Stop trolling.

Legato mode for the browser would be very good.

Re: Live 10's GUI
I think the Ableton GUI is pretty darn good but could be improved in a few key places: 1. Arrange window waveforms - This is a complete joke. Waveforms are no sample accurate which causes a highly redundant workflow by having to go back and forth from detail view to the pretty places where you put t...

Re: Please Improve the Waveform Graphics in Entire Program
That's irrelevant with the powerful computers that exist these days. But even so the solution is timeline caching. Pro Tools can run a 128 track session with the best quality waveforms available from a USB stick. We're at 64 bit now as well, there's absolutely no excuse for this. The technology is a...

Re: Live for traditional recording/mixing - An experiment
+1 I would never have bothered learning to use another DAW if this wasn't the case. I am currently working with Harrison Mixbus for recording and mixing as the pops, clicks, and dropouts in Live become more infuriating the more complex the project gets. I also get soundcard buzzing (apogee one) for...

Re: Audio editor (wav) among other things
Been messing around with Ableton Live 9 Lite (included with a cheap audio interface - Fuckusrite 2i2)and definitely miss a good wav editor. In fact all clip editing is sort of inferior. Example: I want to decrease (not eliminate) volume within a clip (not the entire clip). Nice to be able to zoom i...

Please Improve the Waveform Graphics in Entire Program
Please, please, please fix the Waveform representation in arrange view. It's clearly not sample accurate, why!? Is it because processing quality graphics on a DAW was taxing back in 1999? Perhaps it's because it will create unnecessary strain during live performance? Fair enough but how about an opt...

Re: Specs for a new browser.
Tag system is the way to go. A file can belong to many categories and it's a system that is 100% customizable. A tag system is hands down the biggest missing feature in the Live 9 browser. I would imagine that omission has something to do with Push, which Ableton is trying to make more important th...
