iPad : best app for replacing a Launchpad? plus general Qs
hey all, so I've got a really big gig coming up in a few weeks. A friend of mine is traveling interstate to come and join me, and he's bringing his iPad. He's the only person I know who's got one and has agreed to let me borrow it for the gig. So my question is, which iPad app is best for replacing ...

Re: Edit MIDI notes - make every note same but keeping velocity?
worked out a way to do it using two instances of the Pitch Device.
The entire process can be done in Logic (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94g8_JioLvI ), but mine keeps crashing during the transposing stage : (

Edit MIDI notes - make every note same but keeping velocity?
hey all, sorry for abstract thread title. Wanted to call it: How to edit MIDI notes so that every note is the same, but preserve the timing and velocity. How can I do this in Live? I've got a MIDI file (created in Logic) that plays up an down a huge scale of notes, at different velocities. I want to...

What can your Macbook Pro handle, audio wise?
hey all, so over the weekend I put together my first-ever entirely live electronic set, on my Mac Pro. As I was putting it together, I knew that I'd hit a wall with my Macbook (what I would use for the gig) - in regards to audio drop outs. And I did. So I slimmed all the sounds (turning off oscillat...

Re: Using Logic's Ultrabeat with Ableton (routing into Ableton)
When I want to use Logic's sounds in Live, I use an IAC bus to send MIDI to Logic, and an audio interface with loopback to get the audio back into Live. Do you mind posting a quick tutorial on how to do this? I prefer the sound of Logic's pianos and would really like to use them without taking the ...

Re: who of you MPD 24 users got the transport control working?
digging up an old thread, rather than start a new one. just borrowed an MPD24 off a mate. Time moves on, and now all the transport controls are working fine (as midi controllers rather than MMC) with Live (using Live 8.1.5, firmware 1.09 on MPD). However, I want to re-map the transport control so th...

clip evvelope automation isn't working
i think the image explains it best. http://i54.tinypic.com/2vklytg.png So im trying to automate send D in the clip, but it doesn't make any audible difference. I'm sure I've been able to do this before, without any problems. What am I missing? Adjusting the clip automation envelope for the pan, volu...

Re: Using Logic's Ultrabeat with Ableton (routing into Ableton)
Thanks for the reply : ) I'm not sure my soundcard has loopback (Echo Audiofire 4, looking on their site now), but I do have an Mbox Mini 2 also. Maybe I could use the mBox as Logic's out and patch the audio into Live. Will have to look into IAC for the midi also. PS i might also look into what drum...

Using Logic's Ultrabeat with Ableton (routing into Ableton)
hey all, writing this from school, so can't check at home. We're using Logic at school for an audio project, and I really like the synthesis control you get with Ultrabeat. However Ableton is my creative tool for jamming. Would it be possible to route (with rewire) audio out of Logic's Ultrabeat ont...

Re: Slaving Pro Tools to Live (for vocals/recording)
I'm stubborn. I'm going to find a way to achieve this: Audio of Pro Tools > Live but Live's I/O will continue to be my external 4in/4out soundcard (so that I can continue using outboard effects units) if it can't be routed in the world of software, I can always patch the L & R outputs from my mb...

right, that explains a bit : )
Maybe I'll see if I can use soundflower to re-route the audio from Tools into Live.
where there's a will, there's a way!

Re: Slaving Pro Tools to Live (for vocals/recording)
cheers. wasn't referring to the sound of Tools vs Live at all. I prefer Tools for recording because of it's layout. Midi sync? Really? I just want to reroute the audio of Tools into Live. Ok, here's the full breakdown: say I'm using Ableton for composing and jamming (using a soundcard dedicated to t...

Slaving Pro Tools to Live (for vocals/recording)
hey all, Pro Tools is the business for recording, and Live is the business for everything else. I want to slave Pro Tools to Ableton. Can anyone point me in the direction of a how-to guide?' I can only find help with slaving Live to Pro Tools - which is more common, I guess, but the opposite to what...

Using Audio MIDI Setup utility to route Launchpad channel?
hey all, I used to have a problemo where my Launchpad and VCM 600 controller sent conflicting MIDI messages. Neither comes with a MIDI editor application, and it wasn't something I could control in Ableton (except for turning off the Remote , which is what I eventually did to get around the problem)...

edit: got it sorted : )
turns out there was a plug-in I had overlooked (ABL2). Wasn't running the OS 10.6 version.
Done done done : )
