I should update this. :) I'm now spending oceans of time in Live 5 and perfectly content. Mind if I revisit myself? Technique 1: Fixed. It's called learning how to click differently, quantizing during recording, setting a loop start point and play start point etc. Major flexibility and power. Techni...

Bah, I take that back. I managed to get the Roland XP-60 to quit using the number 80, and start from 1 (0 to the synth = 1 to Live) (in MIDI settings, edit the 'group 1' values and in performance midi settings, change Tx bank from 'patch' to 'group 1', but although it will record and assign the bank...

Bah, I take that back. I managed to get the Roland XP-60 to quit using the number 80, and start from 1 (0 to the synth = 1 to Live), but although it will record and assign the bank/subbank/patch values to the midi clip, accessible via clip view, changing those values doesn't transmit to the Roland t...

Figured it out! Live 5 only retains one single bank/program selection, and it's the last one you do while recording some. And I was on the right path with my 80-1 bank selection business. Live uses 1 instead of 0, so I just had to subtract 1 from all my discoveries in ProTools LE, which mapped from ...

Pilgrim, that was a fantastic post. I could relate to it completely when comparing Roland's 'performance' settings. I have having to save to floppy my user config of performances, so I'm trying to use Live's bank/program stuff. Does anyone know what bank or sub-bank numbers on Live 5 trigger Group U...

*bump* Any solution folks? With my RolandXP-60, I have to switch it to 'performance mode' to setup a 16 part multi-timberal thing. I don't mind choosing a one time bank/program change for a track since i'll keep just the one patch on it, but I can't even figure out how to get to the 4 different bank...

Don't ya just love new-boxdom! I'm a box connosieur. I want them all on display for art reasons heh. Very cool. Glad to hear there's stickers. As soon as I get a new laptop, I'll be sure to make an Ableton one the first! I orderd mine on July 29th, so looks like next week will be a good week for pre...

Curious about order -> ship time frame
Hey guys. How long did it take your order to get shipped? I'm just trying to contain my excitement as I ordered Live 5 (physical shipment) last week. I tried writing Ableton but I think their inbox is swamped with Live 5 excitement. I've had a BLAST with the interim download so far though! Awesome p...

New Live 5.0.1 user: can't use demo "sets" ?
I played with the demo for days, purchased the physical box and got the download while I wait. It came with the same sets/wavs as the demo version but I can't use them in the commercial registered/activated product? There's a dialog that pops up and everything letting me know that should I use demo ...

Software: Logic, Live Delta 2 Hardware: iBook 933MHz G4, MobilePRE, Roland XP-60 Thats it. The XP-60 has a decent enough tone generator for me to have lots of fun, and I let Logic/Live tweak/generate the rest. Click for XP-60 + Logic Ambient piece Click for Logic only techno piece Click for XP-60 o...

Technique 1: Ok, I like to lay down a main synth lick, and then match drums to it, or vice versa. This involves looping what I've done, and using the file browser to overlay other drum loop enhancements. This would be easy in either app, but in Live, the loop start/finish click area is so close to t...
