Re: Automatic new clip creation on loop end
you can already do this in ableton. but it is a little different. if you loop something in arrangement view you can keep taking new takes. unfortunately it doesn't make a new track for reach new take. if you open up clip view for that comped take you can see that the start/end markers are highlighte...

Re: Exporting/rendering all tracks with send effects printed
a return track is a track that recieves its audio input from other tracks. therefore you can't actually dissect each wet part of an individual track. This is true in fact, but Live's solo (when I solo a track) *includes return effects, audibly. So, it should be possible to export that. Indeed, to c...

Re: CPU Usage jumps up when tapping in tempo
i found the source of my problem but none of my methods have worked to fix it. i have multiple instances of guitar rig and although they may not be activated (i'm using chain select on audio effect rack) when i tap in the tempo the message is going to all the instances which is making the cpu jump. ...

CPU Usage jumps up when tapping in tempo
I have the tap tempo mapped to my fcb1010. Normally my cpu usage meter sits around 20-30% but only and always when tapping in the tempo the cpu meter jumps to 100-110%. anybody know why it's doing this? anyway i can get rid of it? i'm using ableton to host guitar rig and ableton effects to process m...

Re: Exporting/rendering all tracks with send effects printed
a return track is a track that recieves its audio input from other tracks. therefore you can't actually dissect each wet part of an individual track. it's the same idea as trying to get just the vocals from a final mix. I would say the best way to do this is create a second audio track. This will be...

Re: Performing live with a drummer
there are many ways to do this but as stated above the easiest and most reliable way would be to have the drummer on with a click. preferably you would have a click too but it's not as much of a necessity.

Re: ableton sound engine and new monolake album
yeah, i feel like the pro tools setup was used just for the mastering. There's nothing wrong with hiding the fact that Robert was not only using ableton live but to outright lie on his site seems unorthodox.

Sound Designing and Writing Drums
I was curious about your workflow with drums and other percussions. I dislike using samples because I hate the workflow of scrolling through to find the sound in my head. I prefer making all of my own sounds as far as synths go but it's really crippling to the workflow when it comes to percussion. I...

Why do people hate Dubstep?
So I come from a non-electronic music background. I always thought I had an ok taste in music (as in liked more artistic styles of music) but as I've slowly let electronic influences leak into my productions I've recently found a lot of people ripping on dubstep. Why is this? I have to say my favour...

Re: External sound boxes for a guitar and synth piano??
theoretically as long as you have enough ins and outs it should completely work. I've personally never tried this before but this is why ableton made an audio effect called "external effect" or something like that. Read the manual for more details.

Re: Looper Improvements
I also use looper for playing live. I would like to see a midi looper. For instance i have sounds in the drum rack going to individual return channels which all have a looper on them. One pedal push records them all and loops them all at the same time with each other and I can over dub to add to ea...

Re: What db should I rehearse midi in during the sound design?
....if i am not wrong!? 100 velocity = +12db i read that in a posting for a couple of weeks here on the board.....maybe it aint correct but i hope it is :D sorry, no midi by itself would not make any sound. Obviously if it was controlling a patch it may have been +12db at 100 velocity but that's on...

Re: An alternate way to live looping?
On the bottom left of the looper plugin there's a "quantization" menu. Select the quantization you'd like.
Note: The global play button needs to be on for quantization to work. This is what i think you're problem was.

Re: Ableton beginner needs recomendation
I went from Intro -> Live -> Suite. Wish I would've just went straight into Suite. Yes, there are better synths outside of the suite package but Ableton's synths are really nicely integrated and they still sound good. Also, they're pretty easy to learn synthesis on. Example FM8 (much more powerful b...
