True I am not sold on the switch yet!
Maybe I'll wait for the next Mac Pro... Apple will probably take the lead for a while. And who knows, maybe Live will one day run better in OSX?

Does Live factor in midi latency when recording midi?
Hey,
So Live definitely adds the output latency to midi recordings when in Auto or In mode. It's been discussed here a lot... but is add calculating and adding midi latency also, for midi? If so, how? And is it adding input latency also, for audio?
Just something I was wondering...
Cheers,
Alex

Re: Is switching Ableton from Mac to PC seamless?
cids; I guess that the benchmarks are open to some interpretation... still, when you look through the Live Performance Test thread the one thing that is striking is how the same CPUs are always getting better Live performance under Windows than in OSX. Would you not say Live is windows preferred pla...

Re: Is switching Ableton from Mac to PC seamless?
Well that sorts out projects (though that still wouldn't solve audio units?) but what about say Sampler presets that use samples in Library folder? If I copy them across to a Windows install will they all still open? What about presets for other Live instruments?

Re: Is switching Ableton from Mac to PC seamless?
Also, forgot to add... aren't i7's performing better than Xeon's? Why do Mac Pro's still use Xeon's? Or are the Xeon's in the Mac Pro's i7s?

Is switching Ableton from Mac to PC seamless?
Hi, I'm considering switching back to PC as I'm looking to buy a new computer and I'm not sure I can justify the apple premium considering the litany of problems I have had with my MBP... Is there anything to consider, Ableton-wise? Can I copy my Ableton Live Library folder across and keep all my cl...

Re: Plugin keyboard entry woes with Live
In fact, I have to start a new project once I have deleted a Cypher accidentally mid data-entry as if I add a Cypher to another track the problem persists! So Live misreading the keyboard entry is actually causing me to delete Cypher mid data-entry. Once I delete it mid entry it then seems to screw ...

Plugin keyboard entry woes with Live
Hey, I just started using a couple plugins that allow for keyboard entry of parameters. Live seems to have a really big problem with this. For example, if I add a Vintage Warmer to an audio track, then open it, then double click on a parameter, then start entering my setting. If I make a mistake and...

Is this midi latency + AD latency?
Hi, I have a Dave Smith Poly Evolver (great synth!). I've traditionally used it as audio but I wanted to use Live to sequence some parameters via midi. I have got it all working, including midi clock (which is stable and fine going from Live to the Poly and it also works vice versa). Hey, If I creat...

Re: Is plug-in buffer size in addition to audio buffer size?
Thanks, that's how I have it set. So total buffer size is equal to audio buffer only?

Is plug-in buffer size in addition to audio buffer size?
Hi, I haven't been able to shake the feeling that I get more latency in Live when playing virtual instruments than in Logic. Is plug-in buffer size in addition to audio buffer size? In Live's FAQ it suggests turning down plug-in buffer size for plugins if you're finding too much latency so this woul...

Why can I never go above 50% processor with a low buffer?
Hi, I have a dual 2.8ghz Intel Core 2 Duo running OSX 10.5.7 with an RME Fireface 400. I've recently started pushing my processor harder using soft synths such as Alchemy. I like to keep latency low but the moment I go above 50% with a buffer size of 128 I start getting drop outs. If I change the bu...

Re: Live reports/shows wrong plugin parameter values
Hey Guys, When you configure parameters for a plugin, say 'Cutoff' and 'Resonance' for Sylenth1, and then save a preset, when you load the preset onto a new track are the parameters still there? The parameters only remain if I put it in an instrument rack, and *then* I suffer the bug we've been talk...
