Re: Getting past the 3 minute mark/writers block
Quite often I find that after a frustrating time writing "bits" of tunes I can put the bits together nto one good tune. So I'd suggest revisiting your archives and seeing if some of your half tunes will fit together into a whole tune. On the one hand, you'll get some tunes with fairly une...

Re: How stable is Live in a live situation? Please read/respond!
move the red chain selector around while playing on your MIDI keyboard ...then map the chain selector to a macro control so you can switch instruments by turning a knob. or you assign the different chain selector values to notes you probably won`t be using ( for example C-2 to C-1 -way too deep,qui...

Re: Any advice on where to begin working with plug-ins for free?
Tal noisemaker. It's free, very highly rated sound wise, and pretty much just your classic analog modelling synth. Ie it doesn't do anything weird and confusing. Learn that and you'll be pretty well covered on the basics. yes. the first synth i ever used and it`s really easy to learn virtual analog...

Re: Automap 4 crashes Live 8!!!
...or simply use the impulse without automap. that seems to be best practise if you want a stable system since automap 4 is a buggy mess. if you do a little research on this forum you`ll experience soon that you`re not the only one having issues with automap 4.

Re: Which Ableton plugins do you never use?
yes. I don`t use chorus, flanger and phaser. they`re really weak. lots of 3rd party freeware plugs are better. I love resonator for making drone sounds and pads or running vocals through it or for wiping out everything in a psychedelic breakdown 8) lately I watched a friend do some crazy stuff with ...

Re: How do you make this sort of sound
yes, of cours it`s built in in suite... I just assumed that Mr. Doppler has suite. I might be wrong, of course. And sure buying it only for that particular purpose for 99€ isn`t worth it. but sure you`ll get out any kind of vovel of it. did you change the resonance settings? Can`t compare it to Thor...

Re: How do you make this sort of sound
... or you simply use the highly underestimated built-in VA-synth of Live called Analog  . It has a really sweet formant filter. I think it`s called "f6" in the filter`s drop down menu. Btw. I find it way more interesting how Madeon edits his songs... I really dig that complex electr...

Re: Sampling and MIDI on same controller?
I'm looking to use a keytar (yes) live, keytar cool 8) ... concerning your question: you should check out the manual chapters about instrument racks. especially about keyrange- and chainselectors. and of course you can map the start buttons of individual session clips to midi notes. and btw. what k...

Re: Operator vowel question
Use Analog! It has a Formant filter specially created for vovel sounds. So its pretty easy to get such sounds with it. The intro of my most recent song is made like this. Its not a bass sound, but you can hear what analog is capable of creating vovel sounds: http://soundcloud.com/r-u-nuts/beteigeuze...

Hi,
sorry I didn`t understand your first question.
second qouestion: if you want a section to be repeated only once or twice, why don`t you simply duplicate the whole section?

Re: Another Problem: Chords coming out as a single note
argh! I knew I should've jumped on it when I saw it. At least I got the Intro on sale. shit happens 8) PS, that first chord in the image I gave is supposed to be Am, ooops hmmm, no. 8) change the d to e. then it`s Am PPS, I tried it with other synths and pads, and they worked no problem. Must have ...

Re: hihats suck
another tip which wont really humanise the hats but can create a nice groove as well: put a simple delay on your hihat track. start off with this setting: minimal feedback, about 30% dry/wet and the delay time set to freerun. now play around with the delay time. this of course works best if you have...

Re: Another Problem: Chords coming out as a single note
I'm using Lead-Bright Saw Lead to make the chords as shown That`s an instrument rack, and you only have the eight macro dials to edit that rack, right? If you dont have live suite you cant unfold and edit most of those racks, because they`re using instruments such as operator or analog which arent ...
