Is this actually true and if so does anyone think they did it because of the APC40?

When I think "stuttering/fluttering" I think of the track "Changeling/Transmission 1" off Shadow's Endtroducing... , about 4:36 in. I use MaxMSP to get that kind of effect, but there's probably a way to do it with plugins. It's basically just amplitude modulation applied to a sig...
