Re: Quick copy/paste of looper to empty audio track?
not especially faster (at all) than drag & drop, but if hands free is of importance (since you're playing guitar), maybe recording the output of the looper track on the spot could work (with some well thought out foot controller programming). I'd say look into clyphX (always a good idea, especia...

Re: Best drum machine?
I was looking for more on the virtual side. D16 classic boxes (the 'best' 606, 808, 909) Guru Microtonic Battery, Polyplex, ... (NI) Skinnerbox (M4L, so you can grab it for free) ... I personally don't have NI Komplete (too much other software and hardware already), but should I just start out, I'd...

Re: MIDI Sync - cutting out Oxygen 49 keyboard all of a sudden?
I don't know the Akai sampler your using, but it might benefit from midi clock coming in (synced parameters), but you don't need midi clock to come from the sampler. Unless tha Akai has an internal sequencer you want to use and be the master clock (in which case you don't want ableton to send clock,...

Re: Converting audio to midi?
engage the little icon representing a keyboard, top left corner, left of 'key'. now you can play notes on your computer keyboard. of course also arm your track with the sampler instrument, so it picks up the played notes. for the moment set your track midi input to 'all'. you want to play it with a ...

Re: Converting audio to midi?
is it just one note/chord in this sound? or is it a phrase/sequenced part (many notes)? if just one, drop it in simpler/sampler, if more notes, choose a snippet of the sound where only one note is playing, select it, crop, drop in simpler. also sounds like a bit of manual reading could do you some g...

Re: Digital mixer with Ableton, good or bad idea
I like my combo of Vestax VCM-600, Push and touch-able. Looking to get the BCR2000 into the setup again (after many years in a box) with the new Sigabort script.

Re: Equipment Issues regarding Line Level
also, a passive DI won't have a battery, as passive circuitry doesn't need power. on the other hand, an active DI will usually give you the option of either using an internal battery or phantom power. Ouch, of course! sorry for the wrong info there. should I say it was kinda late after a lon...

Re: Equipment Issues regarding Line Level
The Y-cable is the correct one, the XLR to mono jack should work, but a normal XLR female-male (or female XLR to stereo jack) would have been better. Not that it would matter much with short cable runs, but for longer runs, and especially on stages/places with lots of electrical wiring on the floor,...

Re: Equipment Issues regarding Line Level
a typical use for the DI would be to connect an instrument like a bass into the DI's jack in, the DI's jack out goes to the bass amp, and the XLR goes to the mixer, where you use the gain knob to amplify the signal to a line level (which is the level mixers deal with internally). your VSL works a bi...

group 'follow action clips' into a 'one cell clip'
quite a few times mentionned already, but mostly in longer lists of many wishes...
it would be very nice to collapse a vertical group of clips that interact with each other via follow actions into a singel cell.
too much scenes/pixels are being lost.

Re: Linking a (midi) sequencer to a (music) conductor
I've worked with various contemporary music composers/ensembles, and without exeption they play with either clicktrack (conductor or musicians) or the conductor gets a visual metronome (mostly some maxmsp patch with custom built led box). Too big a risk for glitches if you try to follow the conducto...
