Re: Movie score ( a la hans zimmer) - any tricks? compressor??

Hi, I got to do a movie score track (2min) in the Zimmer style. Big french horns, deep tuba, presto cello strings... So far it sound ok. I've just put a slight reverb on the master track. Is there anything I should be aware as a total first timer? Do you compress anything? The track need to be stro...

Re: SSD recommendation

I don't know which models fit best to your computer, but regarding performance, I've heard that the best performance comes from OWC and OCZ.

Re: Ableton says THANKS with two free Live Packs........

Hah, we're a bunch of spoiled kids. Since when does a company need to give the users ANYTHING for free? It feels like we would've been better off with no presents at all.

Re: MULTI-TAKE MANAGEMENT *pleeeeaaase*!!!!

I completely feel your pain. It should work with both MIDI and AUDIO. It could work like this for example: add a "monophonic/polyphonic" mode -button to the current group tracks. Polyphonic mode is what they are now: all the tracks sound at the same time. Monophonic mode would make the gro...

Re: Integrate Sampler features into every clip in Live

I totally agree with the Looper matter - I hope they will rebuild it in future versions with some more integration in mind... About dropping devices, I think the inteface would stay very clean even if the features were there if they just applied the same on/off-principle to clips that we already see...

Integrate Sampler features into every clip in Live

Sampler is a device that contains an audio file and provides lots of functions to process the audio and even LFOs. What if Ableton would integrate Sampler features into the standard clip container in Live? Every clip would have most of the features the Sampler has, so basically few more tabs in addi...

Indeed. Maybe we'll even see Live Pentium.

Re: Priorities - software, monitors, controllers?

I used to mix on headphones and was constantly dreaming of getting proper speakers. And when I finally got them, I would never want to let them go. They are a REALLY good investment (especially if you buy really good ones). On the other hand, you being a pianist, a piano controller will most likely ...

Re: How to run kontact with live

Kontakt lets you use ram outside of the host with the memory server mode, much like Omnisphere. Well at least on a mac. Are you on a PC then? This is a very useful thing about being on a mac so maybe time to switch! ^ this. Using multiple instances helps you with splitting core-load, but it doesn't...

Re: Tempo maps from existing audio

It's possible. Enable the warping in the clip you want the master tempo to follow, then click the button in the clip that says "Slave" and it becomes "Master". This means Live will now read the master tempo from the way you warp the clip. Add the warp markers according to the aud...

How to "ride the slider" with a compressor?

I want to make a compressor follow the peaks and lower the volume without actually compressing the signal, just lowering the level. The effect I'm after is the same that happens when I just lower the volume by hand on a mixerboard. As I understood, compressor doesn't do anything if ratio is 1:1, but...

Re: 1Gb + Royalty Free loops - totally free

Thank you very much, very nice!!!

I was also wondering if there's a chance there would be a one big file for download? Of course this will work as well, though. It's free, after all.
