Re: Can i use this cable between my monitors and audio interface
Ok that's what I thought... 6,35 mm refers to the size of the male jack connector. The cables will give me the better sound that my monitors and audio interface can offer me? The cables will not limit the quality of the sound? Correct. Stick with Cordial from Thomann, they won't degrade the signal y...

Re: Can i use this cable between my monitors and audio interface
That will work. I use the same ones, quality is very good for the price and is on par with your gear.. If I understand correctly, 0.20 mm refers to the thickness of the gold layer on the connectors. Where did you see that 3.65 mm figure?

Re: Cheap used MacBooks
I'm still gigging with a 2008 MBP, 2,5GHz core 2 duo! Good machine. If it's around $400, I reckon it's a fair price. Consider you might want to replace the battery... Also always make sure it's a core 2 duo.

Re: Extreme Musical Compression..
Well I think it IS sidechain compression and very heavy compression and limiting at the mastering stage...
As you can hear, it's really squashed. I bet the waveform would look like a boiling sausage trying to burst in a tight test tube.

Re: Question for music theory fans - chord progression analysis
Actually C7 – C7(b9) would be more exact – can be substituted for C#dim7. So in your chord progression Cdim7 is a substitution for B7, or B7(b9).scutheotaku wrote:As I understand it, Dim7 chords can often be used as substitutions for dominant sevenths, e.g. C7 can be substituted for Cdim7.

Re: Need feedback on a couple of mixes
ok, I've just listened very quickly (like 10 sec each). Mix A lacks low end, mix B is a bit more balanced. Both have too many distorted elements and are fatiguing to my ears. Not my type of music, though, so maybe someone else can bring some more constructive comments.

Re: Power failure while recording?
Wav, aiff and the like require finalization at the end of recording in order to be readable. It's very likely that a sudden power failure did not allow the process to be completed, in a similar way as when you abort a download. I might be wrong, though...

+1. Plus, if you import mp3's into live, they will be "upconverted" to wav anyway.timothyallan wrote:You want best quality? Wav is best quality, easy! Buy wav.

Re: basic mixing+mastering for jazz recordings
It's impossible to answer without listening. I've been mixing quite a bit of jazz recently, my only advice is keep it natural sounding, preserve dynamics. If you upload a live set with one song, I could dial in some settings on each channel to get you started. Pm me if you want.

Re: motu vs presonus
I'd go with RME, much better build quality, great sound and features, will last longer, no need to upgrade for years. I have a Presonus Digimax FS, which is a multichannel preamp and AD/DA derived from the Firestudio, as well as a Monitor Station of the same brand. One of my Digimax channel was not ...

Re: to play an instrument
I pity those who produce music with/on a computer but do not play/never played a real instrument. On a guitar or a piano (my instruments) you can put so much interpretation into even a simple ascending scale, a good instrument has its own unique character which you can bring out, that's no comparis...
